Hello,

Just wondering, can you mix Vallejo's drying retarder with their liquid metal range? Has any one tried it or know whether it'll work? If not, is there some other drying retarder that can be used?

The most annoying thing I'm finding with using liquid metals is they dry waaaaaay too fast. I'm almost tempted to test some enamel metals instead, as I remember from model aircraft they were typically better than acrylic metals anyway.

Any thoughts?

No, you can't. The liquid metal range are alcohol based, the model color (including the retarder) are water based. Mix them and you'll get gunk.

Consider the liquid metals as a solid basecoat; thin with alcohol (Tamiya X20-A works extremely well). If you need to blend, do so with glazes over the top of the metal once it's dry.
