I play orks and I know my opponent plays space marines and has an ironclad dreadnought and I was wondering (for kicks and giggles) if it would be better to give a warbuggy a scorcha or a rokkit launcha to combat this

To combat a dreadnougth and spacemarines the twinlinked rokkit would allways be better unless he spam scouts
Then again if you go for buggies you should allways go for the general ork rule. Never go for one bring Moar! Cuz moar is bettah! Waaaaagh!

Waagh like a bawz

Well with a skorcha you can't even scratch the paint off his front and side armour, so definitely a rokkit launcha, but as phatonic said it's better if you have more than just 1 warbuggy since unless you get a bead on his rear armour you're going to have a tough time breaking through it.

The best weapon against a dreadnought like the Ironclad is a boyz mob with Nob wielding a power klaw since it can't challenge it out of the group thankfully like some MC can. Also a Warboss w/PK on a Bike or just glancing it to death with Lootas.

I only have enough points to take one buggy and I only have one buggy(I have never used them) is there another unit I could take that would do it better than a buggy and I have enough lootas to glance it to death if I need to but I would rather save the lootas for the regular space marines and rhinos

You could run deffkoptas. They are about the same as war buggies for damage output.

Or put some gretchin on a quad gun.

Kannons can take on mech, but aren't the most reliable.

Unless you need to shave a handful of points, or want a Skorcha, always take Deffkoptas. They're faster, tougher, and can outflank or scout/shoot at rear armor on turn one.

Koptas almost alwayz do better than buggies. Besides, you can adjust your indep to koptas and he'll get scout usr to make a scout move or outflank.

I've tried this fun combo - koptas + bikerboss. They're super - awesome if you can hide them from enemie's fire. At least from part of it.

I have 2 ork buggies and 3 old style roller-skate Trukks that im waiting to convert into Buggies for the new dex. But until then they are literally collecting dust.

I need to dust them.

But I'm hoping the Orks get something (jink saves) for Buggies to make them more survivable.

What is the best way to get the models for koptas, I would rather not pay the $30 per model for the metal ones and I can't find the box set where they are in (I can't remember the name at the moment)

I'm pretty sure you can buy AOBR koptas for like 5-10 dollars per 3 of them from ebay - depends on delivery cost. Besides, there should be people willing to sell all that same AOBR koptas for even cheaper cause they're pretty common and generally not used very often.

Grot Tanks!

Cheap, more accurate, come with a 5++
And they're Grot Tanks! Every Ork force should have some.

I have played a LOT of MEQ in my local area with my orks and have found that buggies with rokkits are cheaper and last longer for me than deffkoptas. Defkoptas with rokkits are 10pts more expensive and die easier because of how easy it is to force a morale test with them. People talk how bolters can hurt buggies but they can hurt deffkoptas easier in my experiences. Yes, they are jetbikes and can scout/outflank; however, they are more expensive and are really less effective in my experiences than a squadron of buggies.

I own 9 buggies and I now tend to run 2 full squadrons of 3 rokkit buggies. 105pts for 3 TL rokkits on fast vehicles isn't too bad for popping rhinos, whittling down MEQ, or just providing a distraction (should a weapon destroyed occurs).

I have ran my skorchas too; however, they are worthless in my eyes. Their range sucks (especially with where the weapon is mounted) and they aren't that powerful. If I want fast anti-horde, I get better results with my dakkajet.

TL : DR - Rokkit Buggies are better than Rokkit Deffkoptas based on my experiences due to being cheaper and fearless. Skorchas are crap but hopefully that'll change in our new codex.
