On a Canoptek Spyder's Waiting List
|
I'm going to be going against a grey knight army this weekend and want to know what you think of my list. He'll be fielding Crowe, 5 purifiers,15 termies (1 10 man squad and a 5 man squad), 2 dreadknights, and some servo skulls. I'll be fielding
Destroyer Lord- semp, mss, res orb
Overlord- res orb, mss
Despairtek- VoD
Stormtek- Lightning Field
11 Warriors
5 Warriors
10 Immortals (not sure if I should run gauss or tesla)
6 Wraiths- 6 whip coils
5 destroyers- 1 heavy
6 Charnel Scarabs ( from IA 12 Dark Harvest)
10 Deathmarks
Triarch Stalker
Tesseract Ark
He'll more than likely be dropping some skulls into my deployment zone and deepstrike the terminators. I'm not sure what he'll be doing with the purifiers and crowe though. Do you guys think this list will work, or should i change something up?
note: this is a friendly game and he has requested that I not field any flyers. I also do not have any ccb/ab.

Wow, that is one hell of a handicap you're going to have, then.
I'll be honest, I don't see things going too well for you.

I don't actually think you are on a loser. His army has some major weaknesses; namely he has to be about 12-15 inches from your troops at the end of your turn in order to do any damage. You just have to keep your distance and pick your targets. I'll give you whatever tips I can though. Firstly is the wraiths; absolute gold. You can use them to isolate terime squads and cut them down while the rest of your army focuses fire. And trust me, your're 'crons so if you pace your enemies you should be able to do it. I'd say you need more armour to get your guys to the front, so you can claim objectives, otherwise they'll get caught by the termies and you want to keep your troops out of his reach at all costs,as the moment he gets into combat with anything but wraiths, not only is that unit dead, but that means they will survive longer without being shot at.

That list is just my 2k for this match. I have just about everything else in the codex. Just no barges and his request of no flyers. If you think this will be a major loss, I'm open to suggestions. (Reasonable suggestions)

Sorry, man, but those are the two most effective vehicles in our codex. The only other thing that comes close would be the Ghost Ark, but even then, it's only situational.
Not saying it would be impossible to win without them, just... a lot harder.
PS. Only 3 troops for a 2000 point game is not wise list building. Rule of thumb is usually 2 troop units at 500, and with every additional 500 points you should be adding 1 more troop unit (so 3 for 1000, 4 for 1500, 5 for 2000). After all, the majority of games will be won (or lost) because of objectives.

That was weird.... It posted my thing that I wrote b4 I got home and re looked over the 'cron codex. Sorry about that, this thing I have posted is the one I've quoted. I deleted the thing from b4.
Basically if you insist on going without those vehicles then get some ghost arcs, otherwise you'll get chopped up.
