Yup, it's pretty much a tau list with all of the best stuff you can cram in 1850pts. At least with minimal markerlights you're going to have a problem ignoring cover. Minimal troops is going to hurt you if someone can remove your troops. Then it's just a matter of scoring one objective to beat you.

Yes. Scoring a problem for sure. Maybe lose the fire warriors and fusion commander for three more Kroot squads.

Yeah in 2k points all I do is add Pathfinders. I took the marker drones with commanders with DC to at least get some lights at BS5. With the buffmander able to ignore cover. I at least got some.

Well some easy ways to get more efficiency from this list.

You don't need the HBC Riptide unless you're using him for AA so I'd swap him for another Iontide. HBC for me is only worth it in Enclaves with ECPA and VT for AA duties.

The first commander would be better off with missile pods and a target lock. That way he shares range with the Marker drones and can shoot something else.

The second commander wants to be a buffmander. So don't give him drones just attack him to a Riptide. So that shouod free up enough points to make those drones into a drone squad for the first commander to join.

Then dump all the Heavy Railrifles for HYMPs. They really are infinitely better. Also drop 6 Broadsides and a Riptide for a Firebase Support Cadre that way they all gain tank hunter and preferred enemy Marines for nothing!!

Otherwise a strong solid Tau list. Personally I'd consider going with 12 Broadsides and 2 Riptides rather than 9 & 3 as you've only got the ability to buff 2 Riptides and Broadsides don't need buffing to be killy particularly with tank hunters

All Broadsides were supposed to have HYMPs. I like the HBC I've been able to effectively pop AV14 with it very often with a buffmander attached. I just like the weapon. About Firebase Support Cadre, half the places I play will not let it play in the tourneys. Is the formation supported at grand tournaments?

your list is good but a smart player would beat this by purely killing 2 troop units. I don't use the firebase support cadre as many tourneys don't allow it and it is a bit good, tank hunter for free on broadsides.
the hbc riptide can kill landraiders but the odds are not great, that being said you should manage to strip 1-2 hull points then charge in and smash-dead.

I am a huge fan of the enclave hbc earth caste riptide. I would encourage you to invest in the enclave.

kroot are the work horse of the tau empire I would suggest more kroot or go enclave and take suits as troops

is this list for friendly play, friendly play against good lists or high calibre tourney play

Tau troops are so weak though. To make them fast you need an 80 point fire magnet devilfish. The only way Kroot survive is to roll in late to the game and go to the ground. Hopefully in trees.

I dig the list. Riptides 4d6 thrust to contest objectives, after 6" move, and a d6 run or firing weapons.

Best scenario is that the opponent does focus the troops, because you will dominate with the broadsides.

I like the idea of having 4 marker lights with the commanders with DCs. BS5 markers that can also move? Sick. Then! If you need to, stick a buffmander on the Broadsides too. Missle Pod drones at BS5 too? SICK! 24 s7 shots at BS5 while buffing the other units with MLs. Nice!

Your two troops will have to hide and somehow teleport to objects, or your kroot will have to roll in close to an objective on the side of the board.

I think this is a strong list.

drone controllers don't work on missile drones (see tau FAQ)

9 broadsides is too many in my opinion. I would drop 1 squad for some some enclave goodness

Killing the troops doesn't win you the game in 6th it doesn't even get you a draw. Troops are not that important now. This list should be tabling most armies anyway.

If you can't take the FBSC then I'd still sort out the commanders. At the moment you have a half Mark'o and a half Mark'o-Buffmander. Make them a Mark'o and a buffmander and you'll be gold. What is the point in firing half your MLs that you've already fired a twinlinked ignoring cover Ion Accelerator at? Also fusion on the Mark'o means you're paying for guns you'll never fire or your putting your MLs and commander in harms way. Missilepods are the way forward for him.

9 Broadsides is certainly not too many. I'd say if you're not running a deathstar it is too few .

maybe its my ignorance but wouldn't a seer council or screamer star kind of eat this list? I mean in the screamer stars case all you have to do is kill a unit of troops per turn and keep kairos alternating between being off the board(which with 8-13 rolls on divination he can be most of the time) and behind some los blocking cover.

Seer Council not so much due to ignoring cover Riptides with the mobility to avoid the baron. Plus the weight of S7 firepower to strip him of his save. Screamerstar is what it is. If it gets the buffs up and you don't have anything that ignores invuns you can't do much to it. I'd try to park a Riptide into it to slow it down. If the Grimoire fails it dies in a turn. There's a reason Screamerstar doesn't win tournaments. There's also a reason that Seer Council is considered a second tier deathstar.

Gravstar, GraVesastar, Beaststar, Farsight Bomb and O'Vesastar are the deathstars that cause this list the most problems.

I guess im going to my first tourney in a while and was wondering what you would do or better off what you would bring to counter those? I'm bringing daemons to one soon. Where is this FAQ for the DC not working for Missile Drones?

It's not a FAQ read the DC rules it tells you what drones are effected by it.

It is just weird to me that DC can still be taken by Riptides and Broadsides with no stipulation stating that Missile and Shielded Missile Drones are unaffected. I believe this does need in a FAQ like take up to two drones from the drones list, Missile Drones are on said list. I agree it is a bit broken and it is now causing me to shift points around in my list and apologize to the people that have been bombarded by BS5 Missile Drones these past few months.

Why would it need an FAQ? The Drone Controller clearly states what it effects.

I wouldn't even play that list. 3 riptides lol?
I don't understand why anyone fields lists like this in a casual/friendly setting. Is it even fun for you? I can assure you just about no one enjoys playing against your deployment> yahtzee> win army. GFYS.
