If I'm in a challenge and my opponent assault the unit with a non-battle brother allied Character, can the non-battle brother do Glorious Intervention to swap places in the challenge?

This came up the other night - I said no (non-battle brother allies are considered enemy units) but observers insisted that "allies" of any kind would allow it. We rolled off and the result allowed it but now I'm consulting the internet.

I'm gonna go ahead and say no on this one.
The rulebook is pretty clear on what "friendly" is. If you're not from the same detachment or a battle brother then you are not a friendly model or unit.
And, IIRC Glorious Intervention says only friendly characters.
Saying "allies of any kind would allow it" doesn't really make it an exception.

Unless I've missed something, only friendly characters can attempt it.
Also, it can't be on your turn he attempts to do a Glorious Intervention or the same turn the challenge was issued. (In case either of those happened)

If I sound like I'm being a condescending butthole, I'm not. Read my reply as neutrally as possible, please and thank you.

Thanks Ond. You and I are in agreement.

Agreed. The rules clearly state "friendly character" and AoC/DA are not friendly characters.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
