Ive started painting a dwarf army and would like to give the dragon slayers ginger hair.

Do any of you guys or gals have a decent ginger hair recipe?

Cheers all.

Nope but I have ginger hair.
Seriously tho try mixing a little orange into a light brown then highlight and shade with increasing/ decreasing amounts,
Personally my hair isn't an " orange " ginger so that's what I'd do

I'd rather go for a orange-dark-red mix basecoat, then layer up lighter orange. Or go the quick&dirty way, paint it orange and wash it a reddish-brown.

I have a recipe that uses the previous generation of the Citadel paint range.

- Basecoat using Bestial brown
- Layer on a 1:1 mix of bestial brown and blazing orange.
- Highlight with blazing orange
- Final highlight of 1:1 Blazing orange and Elf Flesh.
- Wash with Ogryn Flesh.

Should end up giving you a result that looks like this:

I think if you want a natural looking orange (rather than the red hair you see women with these days that's so obviously coloured and not natural) you probably want a yellowish-bone coloured base and then a light wash of a reddish brown, maybe something like GW's Dark Flesh. Then perhaps a Sepia wash.

Most red hair that people paint looks too deep and too red/orange to be natural.

One of the nice things about experimenting with ginger hair on Dwarf Slayers is that it DOESN'T have to look natural. The slayers are getting their hair dyed, and it would probably be unnatural for them all to look natural - one would think that at least one would get a bad dye job, and many would have their roots showing...
