So, I use a black micron pen for the script on purity seals and I've been pretty pleased with the results. Looks fine and doesn't take too long to do. But today I was thinking...how would it look it I used a brown micron pen? Now I guess that would all depend on how dark the actual brown is...if it was a light to medium brown I don't think I'd like it, myself. But a darker brown....might work out. Just wanted to pop on here and see what you fine folks thought before I head out to the hobby store to look for one. At the end of the day I'll probably try it out on a test model anyway.

I use black brown paint, specifically VMA Camo Black Brown, and a brush with a fine point for any kind of script lettering. It looks much more natural than straight black.

By all means, if you can find a dark brown micron pen I guess it would be worth a try. I tried the micron pen route but I quickly abandoned it and went back to the paintbrush, the pen couldn't match the brush when it came to fine lines.

Here's my take on it:

Well...the hobby store didn't have a brown pen, so there goes that...

I tried doing the script by brush a while back, but I just don't have enough control over it to not mess up. At least I didn't then. I may go ahead and give it a try now and see how it goes...I guess I can always go over the seal again if I mess up.

Thanks for the video Dullspork, it's a little more detailed than what I need for my current project, but I learned a fair bit and that's always a good thing!

If using Sakura Pigma microns, their Sepia appears much darker than their Brown. From what I can see online, it may just be dark enough for your purposes.

What sort of hobby store did you check? Game/hobby stores may not carry them, but they're quite common at art/craft stores. If you have access to a Michaels or its equivalent, you'll be set - can even try it on the scrap paper they generally provide to make sure you're happy with the color.
