Not looking for this to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but in a 2 vs. 2 game (each player with 1500 pts, build your list, then roll for teams) how much fun to play/play against do you think this list would be?

Mordrak w/4 Ghost Knights, 2 hammers, 2 halberds

GKSS, Justicar w/ halberd
GKSS, Justicar w/ halberd

Interceptor Squad w/ incinerator

Dreadknight w/ sword, heavy incinerator
Dreadknight w/ sword, heavy incinerator
Dreadknight w/ sword, heavy incinerator

Strike squads in reserve, Mordrak drops turn 1 while the DKs and Interceptors shunt and burn stuff. Depending on how everything goes, the strikers come in and help or wait and drop onto objectives. Grand strategy would probably make as many of the DKs as possible scoring units, as I am severely lacking those (my teammate should have some though).

Again, not trying to take down Taudar in a tournament setting, and will have a teammate to help out. Any opinions on the best way to play this or what you would change are appreciated! Thanks.

Love Mordrak lists - I used to run one and loved playing it. Not overly competitive, but fun.

Personally I'd drop a dreadknight and use the points to add either:
Coteaz + acolytes / psykers / GKSS for a few more troops
Ordo Maellus Inquisitor w/ terminator armour / psycannon / lvl 1 psyker + some more GKSS

Both give you a few more bodies on the board. The inquisitor + Coteaz gives you access to divination for Mordraks unit / Strike Squad, which can really hurt things.

I also liked to run a few more psycannons with the strike squads - they really are seriously good at taking down 99% of things.

Dropping one dreadknight definitely lets me do a few things -

I could add an extra ghost knight and a xenos inquisitor in Mordrak's squad for prescience and rad grenades, an extra 5 man strike squad, and a psycannon for each of the GKSS.

I could add a psycannon to the two GKSS, and then Coteaz and a henchmen squad with pretty much anything (maybe some plasma cannon servitors because they'll be sitting back anyway, with some crusaders to tank wounds).

I could add a malleus inquisitor with psycannon and make one of the GKSS 10 men with 2 psycannons and psybolt ammo.

Thoughts? Also, thanks for the reply!

I would give up the interceptors over a DK.

You don't need another 150 point inferior flame thrower when you have 3 amazing ones.

Cut out the Interceptors and GKSS and replace it with coteaz and some monkey trucks or servitors.

Thanks, I'll give Coteaz a shot he's been really good for me in the last few games I've played anyway. I do want to try a pure GK list at least once or twice though, I've been using a ton of henchmen lately. Pure GK tends to suffer from a lack of scoring bodies unfortunately, and Trolleaz definitely helps that. I will at least have the benefit of a teammate with backup scoring units though, so it's not as big of a deal as if I was playing a regular game.

In my experience, the key to a mordrak list is to go all in and cripple your opponent from the first turn, and use what's left to hold objectives after the bloodbath in his/her deployment zone. You have to commit ALL your points to a full-on assault or it just won't work.
Here are my thoughts:
1. Keep all 3 dreadknights. You need their speed (I'm assuming you've got teleporters on them even though your list doesn't say) to catch skimmers and fast units. They are your main go-to for killing tanks and MCs, and can melt anything with a 4+ or worse armor save. I think the sword is essential (despite the naysayers) because that re-roll drastically increases his odds of exploding a tank or killing extra units for a sweeping advance. Also, Mordrak can make D3 of them scoring with grand strategy, helping the scoring unit problem.
2. Drop the interceptors for a Librarian, and attach him to Mordrak's unit. The libby can take a warding stave to tank wounds if you want, but the essential gear is a teleport homer and warp rift. Accurate deepstrike is awesome, and enhances your ability to get stuff in for support. Warp rift is a cruel, cruel way to deal with expensive Tau/Necron/Low-I units, and with a no-scatter deepstrike you remove the stuff you want turn one.
3. Deepstrike everything that isn't shunting, if you can. You'll need ever attack you can get.

The list is (for me anyway) incredibly fun to play and very high risk/reward; you'll know which way the game's going to go after turn 2 - you're going to overwhelmingly win or lose. Crush a flank if you can, but focus on killing the stuff that can reliably hurt your dreadknights/terminators, working your way down the list by damage output.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

I think that there are a couple of ways to run this. Personally I am going to start running this army, but have to similar but different builds. In all of my GK builds I take Coteaz. He is cheap and extremely effective. Since the FaQ came out, its great that he can swap out his power. Unlocking all of the henchmen warbands is also great. Swap his power for Prescience, and then put him with either Mordrak's unit, or you can put him with some henchmen.

I believe that going a more Inquisition route is better due to the fact that you can put cheap acolytes in a chimera and let them sit on an objective. When I have the points something I will frequently take is a unit of a couple of acolytes (meat shields), some crusaders (they can take hits) and some death cult assassins (can do damage) so I can drop them down from a stormraven or something so they can tarpit Fateweaver for example after he has been grounded.

The two ways that I like this list are the full out attack like the rest of what people have been saying, but I also run them with an allied detachment of LotD. This is great because I just take a combi-melta and a meltagun in each unit and make three of those. They I use grand strategy so they become scoring. They are then tough, scoring, and they will then become a real pest for my opponent to get rid of. I drop them down too so I immediately have things in the backfield that my opponent has to deal with. I like running a couple of stormravens too due to the fact that they are a strong flyer. Pretty much the whole point is to just overload your opponent so they can never really get to your stuff. When they finally clear their backfield, they they will have 2 stormravens to deal with. I always take some warbands too so they can camp it up behind a defense line on my objective(s).

I hope that this can help some although I have really just shared more of my personal experiences. If you would like me to post a couple of lists that I have ran and some strategy for them, I would have no problem with providing that for you. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I'd love to see a list or two if you want to post them, especially with LotD - I don't know a lot about them or what kind of tactics you'd use with them but I have a bunch of old SM I could convert/paint without much trouble.

Coteaz is also definitely an interesting addition to the list. Makes your scoring backfield a lot cheaper and adds some good special rules... I'd definitely like to see any tactics/builds you have with him or LotD. I should be getting a game in tomorrow to test things out too!

Just some rules clarification: You can only use grand strategy on units from Codex: GK per the FAQ. Also, Coteaz cannot deepstrike, so joining him to Mordrak's unit is a waste of a no-scatter DS.

Oh right! Sorry I forgot about that too!

So here is my list for GKs + Lotd. Please excuse me for using all of the war gear and things like that now. I know that many people on the forums don't appreciate it when all of those things are included, but for these purposes I feel like they are necessary. Without further adue, here it is:

I will explain some strategy for the list a little later, gotta run!

I'm still here, and I'll definitely give Legion of the Damned a shot next time I play the list, seems like a lot of fun! I missed your last post too, so thanks for bumping it back up.

I also finally played a game with Mordrak + 2 Strike Squads, Interceptors, and 3 Dreadknights in a 2 vs. 2 against Tau and Blood Angels. Mordrak was a quality distraction (thankfully was able to DS out of the LoS of the Riptide so I didn't get instantly intercepted) and despite all his Ghost Knights dying off pretty quickly he walked his way through 2 Sternguard squads after tanking a ton of Plasma and Melta. The Dreadknights scorched about 20 Fire Warriors and a handful of pathfinders, and took out 3 broadsides and a Riptide in CC. The interceptors hung out for a while and shunted into position on turn 4 and wiped most of a Fire Warrior squad holding an objective. We ended up winning the game comfortably even though I only had 5 models left on the board at the end.

It worked well, and I'll give something similar to your list a shot although I have 250 less points to play around with. Maybe just drop a stormraven as I only have 1 anyways.
