I got into this hobby after playing the PS2 version of Fire Warrior as a young teen. Only recently i picked the game up and played through again and oh boy did i see some major flaws! Aside from a Tau having the strength to wield bolters there is the issue of a Tau perceiving Chaos?

What are the other fluff mistakes that were jammed into the game?

Did they get much right?

Besides the fact that the tau guns were so weak you were better off wielding lasguns and autoguns?

I liked only using the burst cannon for two kills, the first one when you get it (so you could swap to the chaos bolter) and the last boss (where for some reason it suddenly became awesome).

That being said not sure it'd be impossible for a tau to wield a bolter, have we ever gotten a definitive weight on a SM bolter?

Infantry-portable burst cannons.

Shas'la equipped with shield drones.

Tau katanas.

Tau-Ultramarine brofist

Valkyries armed with twin-linked autoguns with FAV9.

Mon'tau being the result of Khorne daemonic influence.

A Tau Firewarrior Shas'la killing hundreds of Guardsmen, multiple Commissars, a Valkyrie, Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Dreadnoughts, Daemon Princes, Obliberators, and lets not forget, a Lord of Change in the space of one campaign.

It makes Draigo look like a frigging pansy.

Love the book, love the game.

The Tau are not Blanks but blunt so there is the posisbility of a specfic indivudal being more psychic than the normal level of the race......

Tau do have honour blades so not that far from Katana's

the standard issue forceshield was less likely but then in Space Marine you regnerated by killing -which might be the case if you were a Champion of Chaos

I AM A MARINE PLAYER

"I will admit that some Primachs like Russ or Horus could have a chance against an unarmed 12 year old novice but, a full Battle Sister??!! One to one? In close combat? Perhaps three Primarchs fighting together... but just one Primarch?" da001

Well, TBH he WAS a special tau in the sense that he actually had warp presence.
and Khorne jumped on the opportunity to try it out, pretty much making him into one of the most efficient killing machines in the galaxy for a while, but leaving him utterly mind-broken afterwards.
If you follow the cannon, after the whole deal he got some sort of an honor, and placed in a mental ward. he wasn't much saner then your everyday berserker when the whole deal ended, barely telling friend from foe.

As for the "man portable BC" thing, look at the old XV15 stealth suits. back when the game came out BC WERE light enough to be infantry carried. they made them bulkier in later editions to make sense of the fact infantry and drones dont pack them.

This. The idea of a single Fire Warrior taking on multiple Space Marines and coming out on top is laughable fluffwise. And do not begin about that Lord of Change; a single Fire Warrior defeating a Lord of Change is one of the most ridiculous things in 40k history. It sounds like the script for the game was written by C.S. Goto

Anyone might defeat a lord of chance, after all the lord of chance might WANT to lose.

And considering how bonkers Kais was at that point, I'm not even sure if he was actually alone there, or if it even happened.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Honour Blades are spears carried by Ethereals, as a legacy of their non-T'au origins. The standard Way of Fire refuses to even acknowledge the existence of melee combat. Knives are for bleeding rituals and preparing food.

Pulse rifles suddenly drifting off past 20 meters.
Bolters having 16 bolts in the magazine
Modian Sgts with Steel Legion troopers

But to its credit, the cutscenes were something else, especially the one where the Imperial Cruiser makes a boarding action against the tau vessel.

Oh- The fact an Imperial Cruiser can sneak up on a high tech Tau vessel
