So came up with my actual offical 150 starter army, it has 2 specialists and a whole bunch of things I can use, also there are two models that can act as the Lieutenant, which means I can keep people guessing.

Scots Guard (1st Battalion) w/ Marksman Rifle (Possible Lt 1)
Scots Guard (1st Battalion) w/ 2 Submachine guns, D.E.P.
Scots Guard (2nd Battalion) CH: Camouflage w/ 2 Submachine guns, D.E.P.

112 w/ Light Shotgun

Caledonian Mormaer w/ AP HMG (Possible Lt 2)

Uxia McNeil (Covert Action) w/ Boarding Shotgun, D-Charges, Smoke

Seems pretty hearty to me.

So any thoughts on this? My local community apparently uses a lot of missions that require Specialists, so my next expansion to the list would probably be an Engineer and a Traktor MUL so I'll have 3 specialists in my possession then start getting some volunteers to eventually turn into a link team so that I can use them as an order source to really lay some fire down with AP HMG, the Molotok I'll eventually have, and the Traktor.

The AP HMG is good to have, but that is all you have for taking out big guys. The DEPs are useful in a pinch, but I always whiff with the things. They are really close range.

Good to see the 112 making an appearance! I love those guys, and the model is one of my favorites in the game! He's at home helping people or killing zombies... whatever!

Uxia is very useful, and her 2 Assault Pistol version looks great and is also incredibly dangerous. The Boarding Shotgun is always a favorite of mine too. Definitely pick up an Engineer, if only because they look badass.

To be fair, at 150pts, he's not going to be facing any big guys his AP HMG can't take out. In the context of points levels, this one model gives the list plenty of teeth.

Oh for sure! It also is his high priority target and the biggest hammer he has on the field.

AP HMGs are just brutal in this game. If I could take them in any of my other armies I'd do it in a heartbeat.

So all in all a good start for the game? It's good because most of that stuff is in my local store and their prices are amazing (it's the price that it usual is in euros but in Canadian dollars, so if it's 9 euros it is 9 dollars Canadian) plus I get a 10% discount so starting is gonna be quick and easy purchasing wise. Although the models are so gorgeous painting is going to take forever because I will never be happy with them, I guess it's time to start practicing tartan

Take your time and enjoy painting them! The models are all amazing and they are certainly worth the time and effort to get em' all done up right. I know a couple places have links to tartan designs if you're looking for inspiration, and a quick Google search is all you need. Or just make something up.

At 150 points it is a solid list. You're going to be a little thin on orders (6 + your Lieutenant Order), but you can link the Scots if you want and move them as one group. The Mormaer takes up a large chunk of the force (Like 1/3 of your army at 150 points right?), but he is a serious threat on the battlefield.

For a kill-game it is great. If you're playing Missions then you might hit a hiccup or two until you get an Engineer or some other Specialist, though I believe Uxia counts as a Specialist for those sorts of missions.

Uxia and the 112 are both specialists. So I don't think I'll have much trouble there.

What store?

I'd say it's a very balanced list. The HMG will be the main hammer, but if it falls, the DEP's can pick up the slack (although it will be a challenge, but losing any heavy weapons model would make it more challenging).

Chances are you won't be playing a ton of Missions at 150 that require an engineer, but it'd be easy enough to swap out something for that.

Keep the 112 near the Moramer, as that's the main push of your army. Although what I'd do is get him somewhere with good sight lines, and let the scots' link team do the heavy lifting. The only thing I'd reconsider is Uxia, exchanging that for some Caldonean volunteers to get some orders (6 points for Volunteers with a chain is a source of great cheap orders).

The bigger pain of losing the Mormaer is that with 1/3 of your points gone, you'll be teetering close to breaking point. And when models start running away its all over.
