Hey everyone, I am still a bit new to Warhammer 40k so I have a question about the appropriate list to run given my current situation.

The list that I have to build on has won me my last two games very easily and is required to be built upon because this 1250 match is in my escalation league. Here is what I am working with:

HQ:

Destroyer Lord (Warscythe and Weave)

Troops:

x8 Necron Warriors
x8 Necron Warriors
x8 Necron Warriors

Fast Attack:

x6 Wraiths (x1 Whipcoil and x1 Particle Caster)

Heavy Support:

Annihilation Barge (Tesla Destructor and Tesla Cannon)
Annihilation Barge (Tesla Destructor and Tesla Cannon)
Annihilation Barge (Tesla Destructor and Tesla Cannon)

This is the 947 points I played at the 1000 point level. I did this to leave myself room for x3 Night Scythes if I wanted to go that route.

So the question that I have is do I simply throw in x3 Night Scythes and go that route or should I get another HQ, some Teks, etc...? I don't know enough about this route to say if it would be any better than x3 Scythes or not. I believe that the next person I play will either be Tau or IG. Given that information I ask you, the great Dakka Dakka community, for a piece of your infinite wisdom.

Particle Caster needs to go, it's not going to do much of anything.

If you're going to run the Destroyer Lord, then he should also have MSS, especially on units that are going to be charging so you can make use of them that first turn.

I'd recommend 2 Nightscythes and bulking out the Warrior squads.

If you need points, then I'd drop 1 of the Annihilation Barges. 2 is PLENTY at this points level.

Current Armies
40k: 15k of Unplayable Necrons
(I miss 7th!)
30k: Imperial Fists
(project for 2025)

We are not able to remove anything from our lists. That is what I meant by needing to build on this list.

I see.

Then 1 or 2 Nightscythes will be good enough. I'd really bulk out those Warriors since you're not really supporting them much. The fact that Nightscythes can hold 15 of em to deliver 30 Gauss shots can really throw your opponents plans sideways.

Honestly, 3x scythes is probably best. You don't need to bulk out the squads, because they're just supposed to fly around until it's time to get objectives.

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

I would go with the nightscythes, the tesla can really be devastating, especially with the arcing. I would even say decrease the amount of warriors in a unit, and just drop them late game to hold objectives, but since you cant just go with 3 nightscythes

If your locked into whatever you bring one week for the rest of the league.

Design your final list and add the components that fit.

If your going to run 3 night sctyhes at higher points games than put them in now.

The real exercise starts with designing your final list and than backtracking it through the different point levels.

If your going hoard necrons with walking/teleporting/gating blobs of immortals, crypteks and warriors go ahead and start adding them now, but from the first lists and the fact that you seem to have night scythes you seems to be going towards a 1-2 wraith units, 1-2 destory lords, anni barges, with flying troops build, in which case the warrior squards should idealy try to stay as low as possible so you have as many points as possible for everything else.

Yeah go with the Nightscyhes.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.
