In the Purge the Alien Mission you get points for each unit that is completely destroyed. Is a dedicated transport considered it's own unit, part of the unit that is taking it, or not considered a unit at all?

A Dedicated Transport is a completely separate unit. Otherwise it would need to stay in coherency with the unit, fire at the same target as the unit, and embark upon itself when the unit embarks (you can't have part of a unit embarked and part not embarked).

This also means they give up First Blood in other missions, and will give up bonus victory points (whilst also being scoring) if they were purchased for Fast Attack units in The Scouring or for Heavy Support units in Big Guns Never Tire.

When the Space Marines and Rhino are with in one inch they are not considered one unit? So, if the Rhino had a weapon it can shoot a target different than a Space Marine shooting out of a firing point?

In the Purge the Alien scenario would there be two possible points? One if the Dedicated Transport is destroyed and a second if the Space Marin Unit is destroyed.

Both unit and transport are always separate units. Yes they can shoot at different targets.

Correct, two points.

Even when the marines are *in* the rhino, they are two separate units.

Just curious but can you quote a page number for the transports becoming fast attack or heavy support units for the purposes of victory points. something like that has never come up in my group but as i understand it since they don't take up force org. slots they wouldn't count for scoring or points.

Aah! Didn't know that about dedicated transports being of the type of unit they were bought for. Duly noted.
