The master of the forge rides in the stormraven to try and repair hull points as needed. Tactical marines either ride with him to objective grab or camp in the back field to hold an objective. Thoughts?

Looks pretty solid, although I think a single Stormraven might not be enough anti-air. Is the MotF the main reason for taking Space Marine allies? I feel like a CCS and a Veteran Squad embarked in 2 Vendettas would be a better overall choice for an allied detachment.

Main reason was the Marines were cheap and fit into 1850. I like your suggestion but with no upgrades on ccs or vets the list is 1870. This is for an 1850 tournament, I forgot to mention that. Thanks for the reply!

If you must have AA, look no further than Stronghold Assault.

Couple of Vengeance Batteries with quad-las emplacements should do a decent enough job.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

I'm solidly in the camp that thinks 3 knights is the magic #. Its not going to take to much work for your opponent to kill your allies leaving you with no denial units. You really need a lot more allies to be effective.

Short of an Army list tailored to kill Imperial Knights I have trouble thinking of how to overcome them. Space Marines are your best choice for allies. I would personally get some Tactical Squads with Melta and Lascannon, combat squad them and drop the melta half via drop pod. The Knights should be able to kill the rest.

Either way work to take out drop pods what may trouble your knights and let the knights do the rest of the work. I would like to see a battle report afterward if you fancy.

Buffmander w/ devs or deep striking meltas do just fine vs. knights. I don't worry.

I agree with gardeth that 3 is the magic number with Knights. Drop a Paladin. Also in general the Errants make better Warlords as you want to always throw them forward to take advantage of that Ws5.

To be honest I'd say your allies are compounding the AA issues of the Knights. The tac squad are just giving your opponent a back field target. Whilst your flyer is effectively 300 points and can't really help you against flyer spam.

As for the best Knight allies I'd check out the Tempestus Militarum codex out on Saturday I'm expecting that to tie in with the Knight codex well (though could be wrong).

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com
