Looks good. Aegis defense line for the big guns w flakk gun, grots have bs 3 with twin linked sky fire moakes for dead flyers. Heavier on the lootas. Otherwise looks good.

Hey DakkaDakka this will be my first post on this site although Ive been a longtime lurker. I finally have to post to try and get assistance from the more tourny savvy ork players out there! Or just anyone with experience in general with this 6th edition meta.

Maybe I should start out by explaining my local meta a little first to give you and idea of what Im playing with. For instance, my local meta doesn't own flyers, flyers own them. What I mean is I know there are a lot of people all over the country that don't have to deal with flyers and there ilk because no one at there shop has gotten around to buying them. Well this isn't the case with my shop. We all sold out days ago and now its dominated by them. My typical opponents are your typical tau/eldar, chaos flying circus, space marine flyer spam, flyrants everywhere kind of stuff. Things I don't deal with are things like SW or Necrons surprisingly. What I mean by that is not that those players don't show up often, they just don't exist in my local meta so I don't have to build around them.

So now that you know my background I wanted to post two lists that I think might be competitive worthy but are total mirrors to one another and I'm just not sure whats the most competitive for orks in this edition so I'm looking for advice from you guys! Basically its a Footslogging shooty list vs a Shooty BW list, let me know what ya think!

Tha Shooty List

HQ: Big Mek+KFF+Skorcha+Eavy Armor

Elite: 3x10 Loota's

Troops: 4x30 Shoota boyz-Plain janes, no add ons

Fast Attack: 3x3 DakkaJets+3 Supa Shooters+3 Flyboss

Heavy Support: 3x3 Kannons

Kult of Speed List

HQ: Warboss+Warbike+Bosspole+Claw+Twinklink dakka

Elite: 3x10 Loota's

Troops: Da Boss's Nobs+Warbikes+ One with a claw and the other two with big choppas+ All with twinlinked dakka

3x20 Shoota boyz+ 2 Big shootas in each squad, there all going in a BW

Fast Attack: 3x3 DakkaJets+3 Supa Shooters+3 Flyboss

Heavy Support: 3x3 Battlewagons+1 Big Shoota on each+1 Grott Riggers on each one

So what do you guys think? Which one is the best tailored for the tourny scene? Im pretty much open to all suggestions expect getting rid of the loota's. My meta is sadly so pack with flying that I would just roll over without them. What I'm basically looking for is critique on anything and everything, from the troop load outs to how the units and army might fail and excel at certain objectives. Give some pointers to this admittingly green thumbed ork!

(Disclaimer: I know orks aren't competitive right now in this edition, but that doesn't mean I cant show up and give the other guys a hard time with my army hahaha, so I know there are just some things this army will fall short on, but that doesnt mean I cant try to refine a good list with the help of others!)

Thanks for the reply man! I guess I didn't think about aegis line at all, kind of leaves my kannons to get fried I suppose, I just don't like the line because of how hell chickens will just fly over and roast them most of the time. I could drop a squad of boyz down a little for the defense line, but then Id be worried about holding objectives, or I could drop a dakka jet, would be hard to decide but something to think about.

Come on dakka! I know its late and your all asleep probably but pick which one you think is the best!

I'd recommend to alwayz take max bigshootas on shootaboyz. And since u're running 3x dakkajets, maybe a wierdboy? It's super-random but when a couple of dakkajets get an extra chance of doubling their shooty goodness, it's pretty nice. Besides, 5+ dtw is handy.
And i'd rather take lobbas than kannons. 3 s8 36' shots from immobile platforms from the angle your opponent wants proves to be ineffective on a table. Well, at least 1 squad of lobbas will be good in almost any list. Alwayz take ammo runts.

Here's my take on maximizing your bird hunting. Keeping your lootas free of Tau/Heldrake ignores cover stuff = sky shield. Cheap invulns? Yes please.

10 Lootas 150

Nice man I like the suggestions! Especially the sky pad why didn't I think about that, it just screams the necessary amount of cheese to answer my meta!

Thanks for the reply also koooaie, I'm going to take your suggestions and doks to put together this list right now, let me know what you think dakka!

Kult of Speed

HQ: Warboss+Warbike+Bosspole+Twinlink Shoota+Cybork+Power Klaw

Elites: 3x10 Loota's

Troops: Da bosses nobs+Warbikes+Twinlinked Shoota+1 with powerclaw+2 big choppas on the other two

3x20 Ork Shoota Boyz+2 Big Shootas on each squad

Fast Attack: 2 Dakkajets+Flyboss+Twinlinked Supa Shoota

Heavy Support: 3 Battlewagons each one with a big shoota and a deff rolla

Fortifications: Skyshield Landing Pad

There! Woo! It pains me physically to take out a dakkajet but it seemed right, I just feel like I need the Warboss and bikers in there for extra insurance on things to give my opponent to shoot rather then piling on the wagons. While I do play in a pretty cheesy meta we actually do have a lot of terrain and use it often so getting 5+ cover saves isn't hard at all around here. We basically give like 3 pieces of chosen terrain to each player and let them place it on there side, so its not to barren usually.

I think the list looks pretty good right now, but any suggestions otherwise are always appreciated, especially advice on how this list will far against tau and eldar. Thanks again dakka for the responses even though its late at night

From my experience, adding pk nob with a bosspole to battlewagon shootaboys is really vital. There are gona be lots of things you won't be able to kill from range and with pure boyz and bigchoppa nobz. For example, wraithknights, nurgle soulgrinders. Pk will be your answer to non-character mc's and dreadnaughts. Pk nobz are still very important in ork lists cause not all enemies will fall apart to your shooting and good but limited boy'z mellee capabilities.

Besides, i'd split grots to have 10 + 10, not 20. Also, i've noticed that mek doesn't usually need any extra gear like 'eavy armor and cybork body. He's usually out of harm's way for as long as possible.

Deffrollas are fun but not vital now. Most enemies can easilly avoid them. Though, it's debatable. I've tried with deffrollas and without them. And haven't seen much difference. Cause when i get close, i prefer to disembark the boyz cause wagon's extremely vulnerable up close. And when it explodes, it takes half the boyz with it. Yep, deffrollas are not bad after you disembark but for me reinforced rams are usually enough. Besides, i prefer to use wagonz as moving los-blocking terrain. Deffrollas effectiveness heavilly relies on your meta. If there are lots of enemies with landraiders or fortifications - deffrollas shine. If the enemies are not heavy on vehicles or they're far in the backfield, or worse they are fast and mobile like waveserpents - deffrollas are a waste of points. If you say that the meta is full of cheeze - you can just take reinforced rams and get 15 extra pts per each (which you can spend on pks that u're gona need more than deffrollas in any case ).

I see your point koooaei, Ive had a hard time getting behind mobs of boyz with a pk nob as he'll just be challenged out and killed, but the boy squad is just de-fanged badly without him, that and 20 boyz aren't hard to knock down to below 10 in one shooting phase so a boss pole would be very nice to keep them in the fray.

You also have a good point of the deff rolla, It probably wont be catching many people and I do play a hell load of gunlines and wave serpents at my shop, don't see many raiders these days sadly so Ill drop em. With some minor adjustments and dropping the boss's nob bikers I came out with this list.

HQ: Warboss+Warbike+Twinlinked Shoota+Attack Squig+Cybork Body+Power Klaw

Elite: 3x10 Loota's

Troops: 3x20 Shoota Boyz+Each one with a nob, each nob with a klaw and bosspole+1 big shoota in each boy squad

Fast Attack: 3x3 Dakkajets+Flyboss+Twinlinked Supa Shoota

Heavy Support: 3x3 Battlewagons+1 Big shoota on each one

Fortifications: Skyshield Landing Pad

Yay I got to fit in my extra dakkajet doing this! I just hope I wont miss the nob bikers with the boss but I think Ill be okay, I beefed up the warbiker boss to compensate for the lack of his retinue though, don't know if this was a good choice, I imagine if I keep him safe until I need him I should be fine. I can always switch around some points to throw Rams on the BW's if I need to so that's not a worry, Im just trying to keep the wagons cheap on points right now. Feeling pretty confidant right now, just gotta practice with deployment and target priorities as usual.

On a side note I know the Big Mek is good he's just not good for me, I never get any good use out of the 5+ because of how easy it is to get that save naturally now and when I do use it at times it always gets bypassed so I just cant justify the points on a mek sadly. :( Id run him in a footslogging army though.
