Hello there,

Is anyone rise getting slightly narked with the production timing of weird? I ordered the new bayou boss box, Bert and teddy 4 weeks ago, should have been delivered 2 weeks ago, rescheduled for tomorrow and now I have another week on teddy and 3 on the bayou boss, meaning I'll get all 3 sets due to wayland games shipping in over 4 weeks time of it still goes ahead.

Presumed listening to rumours and podcasts that with adepticon round the corner we'd be seeingb wave 2 pushed but with some of wave one still outstanding sends a bit futile to hope now. The frustration is growing as I'm now having trouble getting hold of the metals too. Is anyone else feeling the pain?

Did they list hard dates for the release?

I think most miniatures games are sort of like this, it's generally a vague release date.

Early April for teddy, nothing for the gremlin boxes. From what I hear they're telling the retailers a date and then not being able to meet orders. Was told is would be this weekend b4 salu. Seems similar to the rule book scenario.

Also no Ward on zoraida yet, the plastic kit I'm dying to get my hands on

If you go to The War Store's "Wyrd pre-releases" page, they generally have a couple of months worth listed, and it's not at all surprising to see the delivery target for a few things slide back month to month.

But a good point is raised with Adepticon around the corner.

And new releases each month.

And Through the Breach still outstanding (6 months late) without an updated delivery target (which quietly sailed by this week).

And Gencon in 4.5 months, which might seem like an odd thing to note, but Gencon isn't just a crazy weekend, it's effectively always in play in some fashion or another.

And a good half dozen other games and projects and whatnot simmering on the backburner.

Sadly enough Wyrd doesn't have the best track record of late. I do love the game but as the rulebook has shown, there's little point in ordering something not in stock since it might take longer to get it than you expected.

Ofcourse one might say that the pretty high release schedule they have is mostly the cause of it but really, they should not say anything untill they are sure then. Maybe they are grow pains but it is still very annoying.

On an aside, pre ordering anything when there is not even an official release date is not very smart unless you have an angel's patience, especially when Wayland is involved as they are not the fastest around, even without the wyrd factor. I do know how you feel though, having been bitten by the pre order and subsequent huge delay with the rulebook.

The problem lies in that Wyrd does not have captive manufacturing, its too small of a company to truly dictate timing of manufacturing or shipping. Their work orders at the manufacturer are filler work for for the manufacturer not their bread and butter. If there is any disruption at the manufacture, who are they going to piss off by delaying fulfillment, a company that you are making product for on a daily basis, or a company that you is only filling your pipeline a couple of days a month? The same thing happened with the second printing of the M2E rulebook. The manufacturer screwed up the initial run, and was unwilling to bump a bigger customer in order to reprint the run immediately. The only way they can really set a hard schedule is to not schedule any release until product is in hand, which would delay getting out hands on new shinies even further. I'd rather have them getting the products out as soon as they can, with me having the understanding that their release schedules are more like best case scenarios then hard dates.

Eh? I don't follow.

If they didn't announce that X was going to retailers for next month until they had the boxes in the warehouse and were literally loading pallets onto trucks, how would that be any more of a delay than the system we have now? The core difference would be that instead of anticipating something arriving in 2 months, I mean 3, I mean 5, we'd hear the announcement and bam, 2-4 weeks later, it's at a store. Either way, the book/figure isn't available until June or whatever, but instead of taking orders and building hype for 4 months, they do it for 1, and the community is none the wiser.

Now, given what we've seen with The War Store, it seems they work with distributors (at least) on things a couple of months (if not a full quarter) in advance, and I'm not sure how beneficial it'd be to try to adjust that relationship. But they've been delivering product for something approaching a decade now. Snags happen, shuffling occurs, but for all the proclamations of being "just a small company", consumers can only be expected to have so much patience and understanding when it comes to not just announcements, but things that they've actually taken money for.

They've been hitting the "we're just a small company" line for years now
