My local game store is starting a tournament in September and I've been attempting to build a competative list that includes lots of Jokaeros. My thought is this: Six Chimeras with two heavy bolters each, all carrying five Jokaeros. Then have two Stormravens decked out to the max for anti-air and support. I had a few extra points so I gave every vehicle a searchlight. As far as making changes to the list: I'd be okay with replacing the stormravens with some cheaper anti-air like a bastion, or ADL, or Valkyries instead. I'd like to get more inquisitors in the list to help cast prescience on the Jokaero squads but I'm not sure it's worth the points. The other route I was thinking was ally inquisition to my Grey Knights and add another two Chimeras with five jokaeros and three more inquisitors with mastery level 1. I know it's goofy but I've already comitted by ordering 32 jokaeros and six chimeras. Help me make this work! What would you do to counter this? The tournament is at 2,000 points and anything goes as far as escalation or stronghold assault. I figure a lot of Imperial Knights will be around so 30 lascannons with 5 re-rolling misses should help! But the point I'm trying to get at is that people will have a set list and wont be able to build a list just to counter mine. Please help!

All I know is that I need to see this army assembled and painted! It is going to look awesome :-D Please share pictures!

Seriously though. You do not have the most survivable units and your damage output will drop very fast once someone puts the hurt on you. But if you manage to focus your fire and choose your targets properly you should at least be up for some very interesting fights!

I think the flyers are good air cover btw.

Well, according to the tournament rules the whole army must be painted to tabletop standards. So from now until September I'm going to be busting out the Jokaero orange to get it done! I'll definitely post pictures of it here. It will be an interesting army to learn tactics wise and yes, Jokaeros are very very squishy but hopefully I can overwhelm my opponent into making tough decisions as far as target priority is concerned.

I like the two stormravens too. Especially if I go up against one of those seerstar or other psycher based deathstars cuz then the mindstrike missiles will really come in handy and put a hurt on my opponents force multipliers.

I love monkey wagons!! So this list has only a few weaknesses that I can think of, first is an alpha strike list like drop podded marines or sternguard because an explodes result means toasted monkeys, or FMC I think you should be fine with the ravens and still, that's a lot of monkeys!

And maybe convert 1 monkey from each squad to be a pirate monkey (like from the empire handgunner kit).

This list looks like awesome fun. I wanted to try a list consisting purely of henchman - namely psykers, to drop an insane amount of str 9/10 AP1 pie plates all over the board.. hehe.

Will you be using the actual Jokaero models or using proxies? I can imagine it'll be pretty expensive!

Yeah, I can't wait to see the looks on my oppoents faces when I pull out copious amounts of space orangutans! I would do the psykers; however, with my luck they would perils of the warp and all die on turn 1. -.- What I think would be better is getting double force org at 2,000 and getting 6 tech marines and two grand masters all with orbital bombardments - 16 str 6 ap 4 large blast templates. Have the Techmarines flying in stormravens for more fun!

As far as the monkeys - I got the straight up finecast ones but my local game store gave me a good discount. ;] It'll be worth it! (I hope)

Sounds like a bunch of monkey business, if you ask me.

No need to go that far.

Just remember you have to snap shot if the chimeras move!

Also you can't use orbital bombardments in a stormraven.

So, the Jokaeros and Chimeras arrived; however, I'm thinking of revising my list slightly. Currently I have six Chimeras with five Jokaeros each. Hence, five D6. Hitting on 4+ they would only hit 2.5 per five monkey squad. 30 monkeys would be 15 hits per turn, and 83% of those would wound, so roughly 12.5 wounds per turn…
If I removed one monkey-wagon and instead used the points towards four extra inquisitors then I could give each five monkey squad prescience so they re-roll misses. So, 25 monkeys means 12.5 hits; Of the 12.5 misses prescience will allow re-rolls which will statistically result in 6.25 additional hits so a total of 18.75, rounded to 19. Of the 19 hits so 15.77 or rounded to 16 wounds.
By removing one money-wagon and using the points to instead have inquisitors then statistically speaking I should get an additional 3.27 wounds per turn. Do you think this is wise or should I keep the bodies on the floor for objectives / msu purposes?

I had no idea you couldn't use bombardments in a stormraven? That sounds terrible. How so?

And are you trying to say the jokaeros snapfire even if the chimeras only move 6" or the full 12"?
