i will be trying playing hordes for the first time this friday, whit my good friend ! yay !
I have not chosen a faction yet, i am still stuck between ( Trollbloods and Circle of Orboros )

I will be playing 25pt army's (proxy ) and, I would like to have a list for both faction.
here is the chalenge:

I don't care what warlock I play, and I don't care what units I play, but i would like to play a list.. that is really ..
- standard for that faction
- gives a good feel of the faction
- it really really doesnt have to be a super strong list. just a really good over-view of the faction playstyle in general.
- I dont care If I play units that are not in any battlebox, or starter set.
- ps: We wont be playing objectives yet

I dont care if a unit that isn't recommended in a real optimized list is suggested (that will never see tournament action) ... there is alot of resource online about what are the best model to buy first for each faction, ( but I have not even chosen a faction  and cant afford choosing both lol )

ps: i will be playing agaist menoth using all the models from the 2 player battle box + a unit of Cinerators (we are both new players) and my number one priority is not to win,
my number one priority is to be able to choose or be close of choosing what faction I want by the end of the day

what i'm thinking so far:
Trollbloods
Warlock : (borka / Doomshaper / or Grissel )
H Beast : Earthborn Dire Troll (10)
L Beast : Troll Impaler (5)
Solo :
Unit :

Circle
Warlock : (Baldur/Kaya2/kromac)
H Beast : Warp wolf Stalker (10) perhaps a construct if i play baldur
L Beast :
Solo :
Unit : Shifting Stones + stone keeper (3)

if you are crazy
and want to continue reading a wall of text about what kind of player i am to ( orient me on one faction or the other
be my guest lol :
Spoiler:
after reading the MK prime II and the MK primal II
the main 2 faction that I am drawn to are ( trollbloods and Circle )

so at this point, i have no clue where to lean.

- Circle seems cheaper ( more beast heavy + included in the 2 player battlebox ! )
- Trollbloods seems more expensive ( no 2 player battle box, more infantry base ! )

- I'm more of a melee then range guy, in general,
- I saw the battle report of a guy playing trollbloods, and spawning walls is super cool
- I love having way to spawn things ( I saw bloody bandana in a minion game, spawn a swamp for his troops, and to me that concept is boss ! )
- I love the idea of flanking
- i was never a huge fan of direct domage when spell casting ( the good old fire ball in magic the gathering for example )
i much prefer magic that affect the battle-field or affect units in a special way
- i love the tactical aproach to wargaming
- i am not a huge fan of units of 6+ models ( i like more elite forces idea of a fewer model count )
i much rather have that **unique** feel if it makes any sense

- Trollblood Runeshapers are possibly the most cool looking units in the game, even tho borka the new gorax and Wold Guardian are pretty cool too !
- even tho i love werewolves, the dire troll mauler seems more threatening
- i love satyr's
- i hear great things about circle being better in alot of different terrain ... but what happens if you never play a map whit rough terrain .. are there scenario that force you to use some ... I would feel bad saying to my opoonent : can we put some tree's in the map ..
- i will be playing 25-35 list ( i dont think i will ever go to 50 )
- i love the tribal and pride aspect of trollbloods
- i love the idea that people are born with gifts, before they join orboros
- i saw some units able to move after a kill. and thats pretty nice
- I also like having the feeling that I am the under-dog, fighting a up-hill battle
fighting the odds and coming out on top

Aesthetics only, my favorite are:
trollbloods warlocks: ( Borka Kegslayer / Madrak Ironhide / Hoarluk Doomshaper )
beast : ( Dire Troll Mauler / Pyre Troll / Storm Troll / Troll Impaler )

Circle warlocks : ( Baldur / Kaya2 / Kromac )
beast : ( Warpwolf Stalker / Wold Guardian / Winter Argus )

in magic the gathering history :
i would never play red - burn deck, are unfun to me, i dont like the swarm aspect of goblins,
i am not a fan of white, all their protective magic, no card advantage
i love green, love the theme, and love to win by combat, i love ramp
favorite color is blue, flyer to fly above defenses, ( im not a huge fan of counterspell ) but i do like having a deck of toolbox, having a fealing there is always something I can do, always
i like black for the same reason i like blue ( the toolbox aspect of it ) but .. the whole necro and death are ( ok i guess )
my deck are normaly a combination of 3 colors( blue green and black )
my favorite playstyle in magic, has to be .. grinding someone, having a deck, that might be slow, might look like its loosing, but .. there will be 1 point where, i will slowly slowly get the advantage, by making good trades, and just keep fighting my way up, having more cards more option, until i can just crush my opononent ( even if i was on the brink of defeat for the 2-3 last turns )
to anyone reading that awfull wall of text thank you !
in helping me in my first miniature game

Most troll lists are very infantry focused especially madrak. Doomshaper has always seemed very beast oriented. Borka has general all around buffing and his feat benefits both infantry and beasts by extending their charge ranges and boosting his beast's power attacks (specifically throw and slam power attacks).

While alot of troll warlocks seem to prefer infantry, they do not have to use swarms of infantry. Trolls have access to low model count units (6 max) of heavy, veteran infantry called Champions and warders. They are very durable with many hit boxes (most infantry have 1 hit box, champions and warders have 8) and they hit hard with weapon mastered axes and hammers. On top of the hard-as-nails-grind-you-to-death veteran units, they also have several support groups that provide various bonuses to those infantry in addition to some solo units that can also carry a ton of weight such as the Fell Caller solo and the Sons of Bragg (fell callers utilize a type of vocal power that can buff your units, debuff your opponents, or flat out kill your opponents).

Dire Trolls have higher than average Fury statistics, maybe even the highest. Their lowest Fury stat is 4 I believe, and they have several that have 5. This makes them very dangerous but also very difficult to manage if you have several of them especially since troll warlocks generally have below average fury stats and their beast support options are not that great when compared to other factions.

For Circle - they rely more heavily on their beasts for many of their lists. They generally have weaker infantry than trolls, and their ranged game is sorely lacking as well. However, they make up for this by having beasts that are very fast, have many unconventional methods of moving around the battlefield (either by teleporting, shifting after killing models, or being granted extra movement by spells), Kromac is a really good starter warlock that fulfills several roles. First and foremost, he is a support caster who grants some fantastic spells for everything in your army. He can also change from a very strong support caster to a front line beatstick/assassin, basically shapeshifting him into a part beast that lets him jump over his enemies and hack them apart while his feat lets him sacrifice health for fury.

Circle beasts tend to be softer and generally do not hit as hard as other factions, but most of them are more difficult to hit and very fast, allowing them to make hit and run attacks.

It seems either faction would be right up your alley. I can tell you that Kromac will give you the best starting experience for circle. He works very well with his beasts (especially the stalker, and his character wolf - ghetorix) and the models that nearly all circle lists will want to have.

For trolls, Madrak is very infantry focused, doomshaper is very beast focused, Borka supports both beasts and infantry so he will likely give you a good all around experience. I have only used him once, but he seems to want to have a well rounded list that has strong beasts, some solid melee infantry, and maybe a ranged unit to take advantage of all the Kockdown that his units will cause.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Kromac with the stalker and shifting stones is a solid start for that faction. You will need at least one more beast to keep Kromac's fury filled (circle beasts have low fury stats while their warlocks have generally high fury stats. Complete opposite of trolls). Kromac is fury 7 while the stalker is fury 4 so you will be hard pressed to keep your fury up without another beast. Kromac also makes great use of Tharn Blood trackers which are a very fast, hard to hit, short range unit. They can outflank most armies and pick on solos or just provide a hard to hit skirmisher for front line infantry.
