I have a friend who bought this game. While I'm not interested in buying the game itself, I do like the Slave 1 expansion as I'm a huge Boba Fett fan. I was initially going to throw everything else and just have it on my desk since it's a pretty cool model, but he quite likes the game. If I grab this and keep the cards and stuff, would it be easy to just bring around and learn the game with if he wants to play a game of X-Wing?

Yeah, easy. But I'm going to tell you: This game will change your gaming life.

If you ultimately want to play a standard sized game, you'll need some more stuff, not a lot, but even a fully loaded Firespray would only account for roughly half the points.

That said, if your buddy is into the game, borrowing a couple ships off him to fill out a list won't be a problem....

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

The firespray would be easy to incorporate into any imperial list, you can run it from 33 to around 50 points and a typical game is 100 points. One firespray plus 4-5 TIE fighters is a solid list.

I recommend going for it. You might just love x-wing.

Easy enough to learn for sure. As stated above, the Slave 1 alone will not be enough for you to play; however, its easy enough to combine with what your buddy has if he wants you to give it a go. Frankly, if your buddy is interested in getting you into the game, he should let you use his stuff first.

I've seen you post in the 40k section. And I'm telling you as a 40k player myself...X-Wing is a huge break from 40k.

You can build a force very cheap when compared to 40k...and you don't need to assemble any mini's....poof, instant army.

It's also a fast paced intense dog-fight game. Strategy and trying to predict your opponents steps is huge. Set-up is fast...it's a great game if you only have an hour or 2.

Boba Fett is awesome. Like others have said, you are not just limited to 1 Firespray in a fleet.

edit = fixed some of my poooor engrish....beer is impairing me

You should try x-wing it's alot of fun, it's fast with clear rules and few arguments totally unlike 40k.

I've had alot of fun with the slave 1 it's a beast, get your self a few tie fighters and interceptors and your good to go.

And FF is doing well keeping the balance just right unlike GW.

Something I just thought about...do you have kids? What age? I have elementary kids.

Guess what, if you have kids...they can play X-Wing easily.

It's more difficult to get them into 40k. My 11 year old likes 40k. I'm building him a Necron army...but he's still a very novice player.

On the other hand...X-Wing is easier for them to pick up and doesn't involve this huge army building endeavor.

I'd pick up the core box at least, combined with slave 1 you'll have a 100 point team to play around with, then see how you go
