My birthday is coming up next Thursday and payday is Monday. I think I'm going to get a gift for myself. The question is though, which TAG should I get? My only requirement is that any purchase I make be under $40. The ones I'm undecided between are the Guijia, the Anaconda, and the Dragoes, if I can find one cheap again. If nobody got the Armored Cavalry for me, that's in the running, too. Thoughts?

Oh, and this is purely for modeling purposes for the time being. There isn't really anyone to play against.

If it's just for modeling purposes and you want a relatively cheap TAG...I'd suggest the Shasvastii Sphinx.

It is one of (as far as I can recall off the top of my head) two TAGs with thermo optic camouflage(the other is the PanOceania Cutter)

That opens up the door for some really cool modelling/painting potential.

At some point, you may want to play it, so I would consider that. You could hold off a bit (write yourself a birthday check ) and see what the next few months bring -- seraph, uhlan, tikbalang.

But since I play ASA, I feel compelled to say dragöe. It is a very nice TAG.

While I would like a Sphinx, I think it has probably the worst value out of all of the TAGs. It's barely bigger than the regular infantry figures, but costs the same as the other TAGs that are nearly twice its size? If it were prices more in the $20-$25 area, I would consider getting it, but as it is, it's out of the running for being too expensive and too small.

The Tikbalang would probably easily be my choice if it were actually out. It does have a nice design. But, it and the Uhlan are both in limbo.

I do eventually use whatever TAG I do get. At least if I were to wind up with the Guijia, I could actually use that since I have a fieldable Yu Jing force. I could probably flub an Anaconda with my Haqqislam since it's a Merc TAG, too.

The Sphinx isn't actually that small...but since you are wanting to eventually use it in a force you have, that's a different story entirely. Try checking The Warstore or Atomic Empire Games to see if they have a Guijia for cheaper.

The guidelines you set down make this a bit difficult to discuss as TAGs tend to be very pricey models since they're solid metal and fairly large/complex builds.

Tikbalang, Uhlan, and the Seraph are the three PanO TAGs "in limbo".

Anaconda isn't really a "merc" TAG. It's a Merovingian TAG, at the moment if that makes sense to you. The general mercenary rules are pretty much dead at this point and the poor nature of those rules is why we're seeing the Mercenary "Sectorial" lists.

Most likely the Anaconda will also be available in the Black Hand Sectorial(if it stays on course for a release) or the purportedly Nomad themed Mercenary Sectorial when that comes out.
