I've been in theater for two previous elections. I was providing weather forecasts for the guys flying KC-135's, who were refueling the fighters and bombers providing security to the voters those days. They were busy days, because it seems the militants wanted to disrupt this process. Something I'll always be proud of. In my service, I'll most likely never be one of those guys who is actually doing the fighting, but I'm still a vital part of the picture, and what I have done, has directly impacted the spread of democracy in a measurable manner.
That being said, I really hope that today results in good positive elections. A solid candidate is elected, that will help the nation out. And for some of the nay sayers out there (not pointing to anyone here, just in general), I'll hope they'll take a day off of bashing America's foreign policy, and realize that we (and our allied nations), are for today at least, really out there simply defending things like peoples basic right to vote.

However it turns out, you were trying to make it work for the good of the people over there. Something to be proud of.

Poll closing reports on the BBC indicate there was a good turnout despite Taleban's threat of interference. A lot of polling stations ran out of ballot papers.

Their elections have always amazed me. Despite so much danger, their turnout is incredibly high. Makes me ashamed sometimes on our own election days.
"Oh, it's raining, I'm not going to go."
These people are literally being threatened with death, and yet they still do it.

Exactly. Especially the women. They are very keen to have a say. Let's hope their hopes are not frustrated.

I honestly hope so. We've tried so hard to give these people a chance.

Did you just graduate from ALS, NCOA, or some other professional development course? Because this is written like something I would have read in the AF times, Stars and stripes, or a EPR lol.
Prior AF here. I'm sorry your writting style just gave me a flashback to the political correctness I had to endure lol.
I'm just picking on you bro
