So I recently finished my skyshield landing pad and i am loving it but i have come upon an interesting conundrum. I cannot seem to find a decent way to transport the dang thing! I had originally thought about magnetizing the legs but i figured that was an accident waiting to happen. I guess I could just find a big box and pad the bottom but I figure there has to be a better way! So I ask you, dakkanites to give me some ideas.

Bridgwater, somerset

I had magnetized the pad itself to split into two halves, that was a whole back and two moves since means I haven't the foggiest idea where it is, or I'd get pictures up

I'd agree the legs seem smart, until too much stuff is on the pad topples it

Do you use it with a specific army? Because with clever cutting of foam you could get it into a big case

Try pinning it instead of magnetizing it. Or perhaps even both.

1400 points of EW/MW Italians (FoW)
2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)

Four 1000-2500 point forces for WHFB (RIP)

A good thought, had i not already assembled it =P I plan on using it primarily with my Guard so there will be massive amounts of tanks piled on top of it. Also my tau, so hefty metal broadsides will ensue. The weight issue is the one thing that has kept me from trying pinning.

Well, since it's already assembled and (I presume), I'd say just cover it in a relatively thick layer of matte varnish and then simply place it on top of your case/wrapped in bubblewrap.

Are you having trouble with not being able to transport it safely or to transport it conveniently?

Conveniently, I just wanted to see if the community had some interesting solutions that I had not yet thought of

That, or get yourself a Bergen or rucksack to carry your army in, then stick the landing lad in the top with bubble wrap?

2000pts IG. ( based on fallout US Army)

3000pts XIIth Legiones Astartes 8th Assault Company. (Pre heresy)

I magnetized the legs for removal and easy transport.

I just throw it on top of my foam trays in my transport box.

Mine gets carried in a 55l storage tub with a bunch of other terrain pieces. It's part of a table layout - not a fortification in my collection.
