I really enjoy playing the game, though its much less frequent with my term paper due date getting closer. I've only got a sylvari elementalist past lvl 50 now though, I mainly enjoy roaming around and exploring.

Terrible at the jumping puzzles though

Yes, I play it quite a bit.

Was going to post a new thread once the April 15 updates came into effect, as that would be a great time to renew interest in it.

For me, I have an 80 Guardian, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, and Thief. Currently working on getting my Warrior up to 80.

All of my characters are pretty decked out, as well. Really looking forward to the new patch. I am really hoping they do an expansion before too long, though.

The best part is, it's free so you can come and leave as you please, without worrying about silly fees!

I could get back in to playing it, but that'll probably wait until the summer.

Has anyone invited you in to the Dakka guild?

Been meaning to get back into GW2. I have a Charr warrior and really love the way the first part of the story is all about you. The second part sort of drops off when it focuses on the various societies (at least for me), so that's about where I lost interest.

Yeah I found the personal stories to really start dragging once you joined the orders and they all became the same and quite boring to boot.

That said I have 7 80's, 1 of each class save the Guardian. I play on and off and have probably enjoyed GW2 more than any of MMO I've played. I just wish they'd get around to some necessary class fixing, cause Guardian Warriors 2 is getting kind of dull (/swipe).

The advent of the megaserver sounds pretty awesome though. Will make running some of the dungeons a lot easier with the group finder on top of it.

I'm hoping for some major balance as well. Pretty much Guard/Warrior just roflstomps everything.

Yeah. Haven't played lately, but the Ranger is proverbially screwed by the flawed design, Necros are just glitchy as gak (wtf is with that aoe field that gives 1 second of stability and isn't a stunbreak anyway?). Spvp is the only part of the game where I think everything mostly works, and it also happens to be boring with just 1 game mode.

Unfortunately those are two of my favorite classes, but Mesmers have always been in a good place in the game balance overall, and I enjoy running around WvW dressed in pink/purple screaming "Fabulous!"

A little sad that WvW is for now staying as is. Its what I like most of the game and its the most disfunctional side of it outside of Isle of the Mists and I really hope Isles becomes the standard WvW formate eventually. It fixes the server issues that currently plague that mode.

I don't like the changes to the trait system though. Yeah it'll be simpler and basically the same, but ugh does that sound like it makes for an incredible dull leveling experience in a game that already has a rather dull leveling experience. I like my cookies dangit.

Ah nice to see some fellow players, I have a norn necromancer and asuran warrior at level 80 and love them both (although my necromancer really needs to get arah armour as atm carrion gear is pretty terrible). What is this about the DakkaDakka guild by the way, I am a pretty high rank in a guild of my own but would be interested in taking a look at such a guild

By the way am I the only one who likes the orders? I dislike the pact but have nothing against any of the orders

You don't need Arah Armor. COF is a lot easier, and you can get the Berserker Prefix from it.

It'll be even easier with the mega server. Before you needed to guest or wait for the rest of your party to complete the quest line to open the doors. Now everyone can just get it done and walk in.

My secret fortress at the base of the volcano!

I play off and on, when I get the urge. I run a Necro (human), Warrior (Norn), and Guardian (Human) at lvl 80 (necro is my main, but greatsword guardian makes me tingle in my naughty place) and an engineer that I can't actually remember what level it is because I play it so seldomly.

My gear is... ok-ish. Mostly elite. No ascended and no legendary because I can't put that kind of time into the game. Also, I havent figured out which in-game activity is the license to print money, yet. Somehow people are able to get enough gold to afford to buy things from the trading post, but I haven't figured it out.

Still, I ran enough dungeons to get my necro a sweet-looking combo of armor, so I'm happy with that (I'm one of those wierdos who is obsessed with the astethics of their avatars...)

GW2 was the first MMO that really got me. Mostly because its great for casual / solo players. It has also some of the most beautiful world designs.

Played it when it came out, made a 15month break when I moved to Germany and have only recently started again. The last changes were a bit irritating but I like that the looksy things are now account bound. Ranger is still a great solo class, even though in dungeons/mass events they mostly suck at anything else than healing.
And yes, the jump puzzles suck galore. C64 frustration-repeat-mechanics all over again....

Started playing it again yesterday.
Going with a rifle warrior instead of a greatsword mesmer this time. Elementalist still tempts me, but that's more cause I wouldn't mind having flashy skills too.
Though I would try to stay to one element, so it made more sense to stick with the rifle for now.

Re-DL'd it earlier on and had a look-see at my old characters, and made a new Ranger and Mesmer to see what they're all about.

I swear I had tailoring on one of my chars, and quite possibly artificing, but all it seems to remember is my Wep/Armoursmith Guardian and my Warrior with just JCing for some reason; I distinctly remember also having a GS/Hammer Charr that seems to have gone walkabout, too... I hope I'm not just remembering old beta characters...

In any case, I forgot my warrior is GS/Bow, so my ranger is now pretty redundant, and I only got the mesmer because people seem to be singing the praises of greatsword builds so I decided to see what it was all about.

EDIT: I have only just realised that I did have a tailoring/artificing character, because I also remember having an elementalist that had those profs. Where she's gone is anybody's guess... Maybe I can dig out the old GW2 thread and see if I mentioned her as being a beta character instead. =|

EDIT2: A quick look through the old GW2 thread confirmed that my Ele was in fact a beta character. =( No idea why I didn't remake her; if I don't like the mesmer/the ranger isn't different enough from my bow warrior then I might nuke either/both of those instead of using up my last character slot.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

The megaserver update got me back into the game. It's good playing in a world that feels alive again, meeting random passers by on the road. As time went on and people got levelled characters, everywhere except Orr and the world boss locations felt incredibly empty.

I've had a lot of trouble sticking with an alt though. I love the ranger gameplay and everything else just feels so boring. Which is weird because rangers are often called the boring class.

I've been slowly working on an Elementalist which is pretty fun.

I think I've figured out why I stopped playing in the first place and it's mainly that the combat is mind-numbingly boring, and feels really quite clunky. I tried my Guardian's Hammer and Greatsword out a bit, and there was no fluidity in the combat at all, especially with the hammer. My Warrior's bow is equally underwhelming, and the greatsword isn't nearly as fun as I swear it used to be.

The only fluidity I found was my new Thief, but that only came from spamming Death Blossom with dual daggers - the other 4 moves felt absolutely worthless.

I don't know about you, but combat feels like nothing is ever really happening until either you or your enemy keels over. WoW has enough abilities and animations to make fights feel less like a slugging match, and NWO is actually surprisingly well-paced, but GW2 just feels... drab. There are some fights I've been in where I'd have been more entertained watching paint dry.

The professions are still good, though, if a bit frustrating at times but never any more so than they were in WoW, and nowhere near as bad as NWO where they feel like a complete afterthought.

The other moves are quite useful in their own right, but Death Blossom will be your main. The stealth hit and backstab is a pretty massive spike damage, while the thrown dagger cripples, keeping enemies from running. The lunge deals more damage the lower hte enemy's health is, so it can be great to spam against vets/elites/champs that are low on health.

Against single targets, I actually prefer dual pistols, though. An immobilize, an interrupt, a spam attack, and a blind AoE? way too much awesome to neglect!
 Avatar 720 wrote:

I really don't get this? Maybe it's because I use a ton of conditions (especially on my necro) as well as interrupts and weapon swaps, but even still, you compared the game to WoW, one of the gakkiest, clunkiest, most awkward combat systems in MMO history, so I'm really not sure what you're getting at.

My secret fortress at the base of the volcano!

Anybody had a chance to test drive the new content that landed yesterday? I was too busy psychologically torturing some people in a Dark Heresy game last night to play (and I'll be too busy at Pathfinder tonight to play) but I was wondering how it was. I hear that we can buy items from past festival events this time around. Is that true and can we get anything good/cool?
