I'm attempting to do a competitive white scars bikes and pods army. The idea is to drop two plasma-sternguard groups in pods on turn 1 and on turn2+ Khan+assaults would arrive in a pod to keep the warlord safe a bit longer and give time to the bikes and sternguard to soften up the enemy enough for the assault squad to survive into combat. Well that's the theory. The problem with this list is that i can't fit more scoring bikes in it. I was thinking of dropping the command squad into a big squad of bikes? Also there is no air support. I usually run two talons for this job. Any ideas to improve the list are appreciated. Oh and the inquisitor is in the list to bring servo skulls to assure better chances for the bikes to scout, and give the TFC rerolls for scatter as it will be in LOS block.

HQ:

Khan

Chapter master, bike, artificer armor, shield eternal, thunder hammer

command squad, apotechary, bikes, 4 gravguns, 4 storm shields

Elites:

5 sternguards, 2 plasmaguns, 3 combi-plasmas, drop pod
5 sternguards, 2 plasmaguns, 3 combi-plasmas, drop pod

Troops:

5 bikes, 2 gravgun, combi-grav
5 bikes, 2 gravgun, combi-grav
5 bikes, 2 gravgun, combi-grav

Fast attack:
9 assault marines, 2 flamers, veteran sergeant, power axe, drop pod

Heavy support:
TFC

Inquisitorial ally:
Ordos Xenos inquisitor,
power armor, 3 servo-skulls, psyker

Total: 1850pts.

pretty sure you can take a drop pod for a thunderfire cannon and then just not choose to embark the cannon in the drop pod, still giving you 3 pods for odd numbers but saving some points. I run a command squad with plasma guns and storm shields in a drop pod with calgar and can prove how awesome 8 eternal warrior 2+/4++/5+++ saves can be (with a SE chapter master of course) so I think you should run khan with them on moondrakken. The sternguard might be a bit much (180 points each minus the pod) so just food for thought, maybe you should cut down their costs and give them 3 combi-meltas per squad and give the command squad 4 plasma guns which is more likely to survive a gets hot! role with the FNP buff. That gives you an extra 60 points, plus the points from the assault squad gives you one stormtalon (I think)

Good ideas. Need to rethink the list a bit.

I would cut back the assault squad to the minimum 5 man with flamers, drop a combi weapon from each Sternguard squad then put the rest of the points into some multimelta attack bikes and melta bombs on the bike sergeants.

Also, I'd drop the inquisitor for a Hunter.

Actually, since you can scout your rhinos too, I'd combine the Sternguard into 1 unit and put them in a rhino. I'd drop the assault squad and this should give you enough points for another piece of AA or another TFC (might have to drop 2 storm shields too, but 2 in that unit should be plenty. Oh , and if you can get some melta bombs on the command squad, that would be great too - if you're locked against a MC and after turn 1 he will be init 1 thanks to the hammer, so now you're bombs strike before he smashes!

Some of this is wrong ^^

Smashing happens at the I of the MC, if he was wounded by a weapon that causes him to strike at I1 he smashes at I1, also melta bombs are unwieldy so they strike at I1, same with the thunderhammer, so if he is concussed you will all go at I1 simultaneously.

Also I would drop the assault marines and with points pick up 2 hunters/stalkers and that's it. And maybe drop the inquisitor's power armour and psychic for khan's bike.
