This is a project that I am excited to finally be able to share with everyone. It has been an on going effort since last summer's Lizardmen release and this army's basic idea was born when I first saw the new Carnosaur model. Since then I have been scouring the GW ranges of both 40k and Fantasy to get enough elements to create a cohesive looking Exodite army.

My plan was to use the Eldar codex but make primitive analogs to all of the units inside. The only exception would be Wraith constructs as I also assumed that my Exodite world could still manufacture/import weapons and wraithbone. Everything else was to be primitive and taken from the natural world (or rather, the Exodite's natural world). What this mainly means is that anything mechanical outside of a wraith construct will be a dinosaur or dragon or some sort.

This army was built and converted by me, but painted by Drew Olds at Garden Ninja Painting. Drew did some putty work on the Carnorsaur/Fire Prism to extend some of the armor plating, but overall this project was fully converted by me which was a hobby milestone as prior to this I never embarked on conversions outside of weapon swaps. I have to say the process was amazing and I have been bitten hard by the conversion bug so this project was a great experience! I plan to flesh out the army and am working on additional units including some Jet bikes, and a Wraithfighter.

One of the major problems with the army is the incongruity of some Eldar units with the requirement I was forcing to use dinos and dragons in the army. For example, the Fire Prism is a skimmer while the Carnosaur is a land-based creature so some hand waving had to be used in order to even more forward with the army. I suppose I could have used all flying dinos, but again, the Carnosaur is really what got this ball rolling so I couldn't leave that model out of the army.

In regards to modeling I tried to keep the foot print of the original Eldar model in mind when making the conversions for this army. My Carno/Fire Prism is not as wide as a real Fire Prism but it is a lot longer so I am hopeful that the conversion will not cause too much concern with opponents. The War Walkers are similar in that the Cold One riders do not take up the same space as actual War Walkers. Seeing how small the Cold One riders were, I built up the models by placing cork rock formations on the bases to raise the height of the Cold Ones.

I know an army that diverges from the official model range will have some criticism leveled at it, but I tried to anticipate any major concerns and address them during the construction phases of the army.

This army is intended to be used as an ally force for my Dark Eldar but lately I have been using it as a stand alone army for smaller games. So far it is a lot of fun to play with and "feels" right for a speedy, dino-infused army.

Here is a break down of the army:

Spirit Seer with Firesaber (converted from Woodelves magic user and Dark Eldar power sword)

Wow, these are some of the best Exodite Eldar I've ever seen. Really fantastic conversions all around. Especially the Carnosaur-Fire Prism.

I've always wanted to see somebody make an Exodite army, and now that I've seen yours, I must say that I am not disappointed. You've done some fantastic conversions, and then painted them magnificently! Very nicely done!

Thanks, everyone!

I am glad these are being well received. I am not happy with the photos and plan to take some more with a different background color as the blues seem to blend together.

I can't take credit for the color choices or paintwork, that was all Drew at Garden Ninja Painting. He never disappoints!
