For me, if I'm working on my IG or Marines, it's classic jazz and blues, like Professor Longhair or Billie Holiday era. I guessthat came about because there was a radio program in the early 90's I liked to listen to when I lived in Maine called "The Humble Farmer", as I painted and that was what the show consisted of. It just stuck from there.

When I work on Chaos, Necrons or Eldar, it's usually Celtic, because in my mind, it just seems to make the work go better.

I enjoy listening to Audio Books more than music when I paint these days, but it was rock and alternative when I was 18.

I think I'm getting old.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

I generally listen to Welcome to Night Vale while painting. Painting is mindless enough that I can actually listen to the episodes without distracting myself by browsing websites or such.

Matt, you're a force of nature. You don't get old, you evolve!

I recently found a pretty awesome channel on Spotify: Head Bangers. Lots of rock that's akin to Crue, GnR, and other 70's and 80's loud rock, great to paint to.

I also switch to my Pandora classical and techno stations when the mood strikes. Generally, I'll listen to anything that I can groove to.

I've recently started listening to audiobooks from my phone. Specifically the "The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes". There's about 70 hours of it.

It's totally coincided with an huge increase in productivity. There's certainly a lot less of the procrastination at the desk which would happen when I had the laptop near me, playing vids, looking at forums, etc.

Music: varies a lot depending on what mood I'm in and what I'm into at that time. Classic rock, blues, country, prog... anything goes.

I also like having sitcoms on. Stuff like Dad's Army, Only Fools and Horses and Red Dwarf that I know well enough to appreciate without watching intently.

Depends on my mood. Usually, I'll play Two Steps From Hell or other soundtracks from films. Occasionally, though, I'll play some Bayside or Silverstein.

I've been working exclusively on DE lately, and the playlist is always Black and Death Metal. Preferably atmospheric stuff like Weakling, Inquisition, Sacramentum.

I tend to go through phases, but never themed to the task or faction - one project (usually a few days of scattered work) will be black metal, the next will be aggrotech, the next will be doom, etc. My current listening kick has been mostly early goth/post-punk - The Sisters of Mercy, Virgin Prunes, Bauhaus, etc. Can never say how long each stylistic wave will last nor what will follow.

I can say, though, that I'll never play audiobooks, podcasts, or shows/movies in the background. My wife loves doing that - I've tried it and it's not my thing. Without actively focusing on it, dialogue loses its value, in my mind. For videos, you lose the visual aspect, which is half the content. I find music much more pleasant to have in the background when I want to focus on the task at hand.

I recently started listening to the soundtrack for Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep (tabletop RPG themed video game DLC, it's really cool) and it's great for painting.
