Are there any good strategies for Tyranids to use against Be'Lakor, apart from a Flying Hive Tyrant with Devourers? My friend thinks the "standard" flyrant is too good, so I've promised not to use it. But as a result, Be'Lakor is somewhat of a pain to deal with.
Terrify and Dominate wreck my Ld 6 Gaunts. And even without psychic powers, he can fight any of our Monstrous Creatures with ease. Any suggestions?

I'm afraid I cant really comment on Tyranid strategies as I'm a Chaos player but if your buddy is going to be taking Be'lakor I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to take a Flyrant with Devourers.
In terms of dealing with Be'lakor, I believe the best method is weight of fire. Ground him then mass firepower is the best option. He is only T5 and even though he is an Eternal Warrior if you put enough shots into him he will go down.

Flyrants, massed fire, devilfexes (45 S6 shots + D3 HoW hits per each fex, should kill him), grounding tests and Harpy + Poisoned Hormogaunts attacks

If he's complaining about a Flyrant while using Be'lakor, you tell him to stuff it. Then you take that Flyrant and devourer him to death.

I agree, there's no reason he should be able to limit what you take by removing 1 of the best units we have if he's taking a beat like Bel'akor. Tell him if you're not allowed the dev tyrant you'd like him to leave him out as well.
That being said you can try Deathleaper to neuter his psychic abilities allowing your units a bit more ability to shoot and with SitW it should drop his Ld to 4-6 then it's just a matter of volume of fire.

Double flyrant and if he is getting 2+ cover (ruins) vector strike him (3+ to wound and only his 4++ save) although if you vector strike you can only shoot 1 devourer in the shooting phase)

As a chaos player myself, tell him to grow a pair and stop fishing for easy, uncontested wins.
Shoot that sucker down with your standard Flyrant!

I would agree that it is somewhat unfair to limit you and then take one of the better units available to him. However he might be limiting his heldrakes or something in return, so hopefully it is fair.
If you want to deal with Be'Lakor it will depend on how the opponent uses him.
If he keeps him back then you will probably need to use your FMC (harpy, crone, flyrant) to vector strike him. This will negate the cover save and leave him trying to survive on his 4++ (if grimoired up you need to go after the grimoire first).
If played aggressively then I would recommend just lots of poor quality dakka to ground him and charge him with a unit that will put a lot of wounds on him (toxin sack gargoyles are good) and don't depend on an expensive MC to do so (a unit of 2+ canifex are alright but more expensive MC will just get killed).
Remember Be'Lakor is 350 pts. If you want to remove him in 1 turn you will probably need to devote 600+ pts to it or a specialist in the field.

If no flyrants- Deathleaper to limit his psychic powers. Devilfexes to shoot him up. Hive Guard can ignore any cover saves he might have.

The one time I brought Be'lakor against Nids the other guy had Deathleaper. Shut him down hard. Also your friend is a pansy.
