So, here's my rationale:

-No idea what Lores to run. Butcher probably takes Maw and I was thinking Heavens for the Slaughtermaster, but mostly because I think it's a cool lore. Realistically I'd probably be better to give the Level 4 Maw and the Level 2 Beasts, but whateva
-Gnoblar Trappers are there to discourage flank charges. On paper it seems like a really good idea but we'll see how that translates into a game.
-Ironguts are there to clean-up heavy cav, etc etc. I also needed another bunker for a character.
-Mournfang are, well, Mournfang. I don't think I need to explain them
-Leadbelchers = same as above
-Sabrekitties = same as above again
-Okay so, the Maneaters; I absolutely love the models and the rules. I'm 100% guilty of including them because of rule of cool. The idea is to drop them absolutely last where I can HOPEFULLY snipe that pesky Level 4 turn 1. I get that's a tonne of points riding on a big "if", but... eh.

I'd love to not run Ironblasters because I'm already a Dwarf player and would rather not have ANOTHER cannon crutch.

As stated earlier, go nuts on criticism.

Drop the gnoblars for more leadbelchers. 6 leadbelchers wit bellower is consistently the most reliable deadly thing in my army. 6d6 S4 ap shots that at worse hits on a 5+ is a lovely thing against any T3 army.

As to wizards I usually bring a lvl 4 maw and a lvl 1 belcher with dispel scroll and a potion of initiative. An I5 S4 breath weapon in the iron guy unit softens a target nicely and a 2die or 3 die fireball is good for drawing dice or killing chaff.

I normally run heavens on my slaughtermaster too especially when playing against gunline armies.

-1 to hit rolls is golden with the right spells and harmonic convergance can really help with hit rolls and saves when you get into combat.

In one game against lizards, one casting of HC netted me an additional ten dead saurus in one round of combat!

Can the slaughtermaster use magic armour? My friend is collecting ogres and told me they couldnt because they are wizards.

usually this is the case.

However if a unit/character has access to mundane armour (light, heavy or shield) then he can also take magic armour.

a Slaughtermaster can be given an ironfist which is an ogre shield.

ergo, he can get mundane armour and by extension magic armour.

so yes he can take the armour of destiny as suggested.

All anyone wants in the world is to be accepted. Except me, i don't give a S%@t.

Thanks for the posts, guys?

A few things:

-Telling me to drop Gnoblars in favour of Leadbelchers is all well and good, but I'm curious as to why? That's 2 totally different jobs being performed and I lose 2 deployments/charge discouragement.

-When it comes time for judgement, I want the Holy Marytr Jervis Johnson to look upon me and grant me a seat at the right hand of Sigmar. What I'm saying is that when a Butcher is the ONLY ogre to forgo a Gut Plate, giving him Heavy Armour because of a RAW feels dirty.

The Firebelly idea sounds decent enough. I'll keep that in mind.

Simply because I have run the gnoblars and they do nothing. However another 2 leadbelchers do a lot.

BTW I agree on the magic armor front. The glittering scales fencers blades may be a good trick for a s4 t5 4a wizard. But, it feels icky. Usually put the 5++ on him and the power scroll of dispel depending on what's going on.

Does this exception to the rule apply for same armour types? For instance, he can take shields, so does that limit him to magical shields, or can he take *all* magic armour types?

If he can purchase *a* piece of mundane armour. He can purchase magical armour.

The FAQ is quick to point out that while it is RAW and they're going to keep it that it is not within the spirit of the game and will be removed or dealt with in the next army book. Take that with whatever grain if salt you desire.
