Hello there

I'm building a list for the upcoming small tournament. here'swhat i got:

List name: "less skies, more fury" 1000 pts total

HQ
Chaplain, power armour, jump pack,
105

TROOPS

Scout squad cammo cloaks, 5x sniper rifles
Tactical squad plasma gun
tactical squad
225 pts ( 70 + 85+ 70)

ELITES

Terminator Squad assault cannon
Vanguard veterans jump packs, sergeant with Pfist
355 (220+ 135)

HEAVY SUPPORT
Stormraven Gunship TL MM + TL Assault cannon
Devastator squad 3x missile launcher
315 ( 200 + 115)

Thats an updated version. we'll see how it works out in tuesday i dropped the excessive aircraft, only left the raven because i love it, and it will support me with this little AA needed. I changed libby for a chaplain to go with VV either embarked on raven or just hiding the first turn. dropped HB on the scout team, and bought two regular tactical squads. so now i have pretty much same fire power, but little mor diversity and one specialist melee unit to harrass enemy flanks. How do You like this one ?

Thanks in advance
Michael

First, Welcome to Dakka.

You’ve already figured out the problem with reserve heavy lists: getting tabled before everything shows up. Now you can keep the theme, but guarantee boots on the ground first turn by using drop pods. You can even go full reserves, with nothing on the table. The no units rule checks at the end of the game turn, not player’s.

Running a flyer heavy list at low points has ups and downs. Most people won’t have the tools to deal with it, but reserve rolls can screw you because such a large chunk of your force is off the table. I’m not a fan of cargo in the raven for the same reason: to much off the table. Where you draw the line in spamming aircraft and safely having a presence on the table is up to you.

Ok, so I like the Stormwing formation at larger point games and I think they all come in together on one die roll...? Anyway, at such a small points level, I think it's overkill. While a Stormraven might be a beast at that level, I would actually prefer 2 Stormtalons (or even just 1).

I think you should consider some hearty troops on the ground, regardless at that points level, such as some bikes or good ol' tactical marines in rhinos; versatile, durable, and can score.

I'd try 2 rhinos of tactical marines, each geared up for a specific purpose and with melta bombs (in case you get charged by a MC or something) and then some light air power (Stormtalon maybe?) and a few "fun units" of your choice.

I don't like heavy weapons scouts just b/c their BS3 is too unreliable to me; I do however like bolter scouts in land speeder storms deep striking late-game.

I'd be happy to weigh-in on any other list modifications you might make!
