Hey all, so I've been running this list and similar in 1500-2000pt games and it's been doing well so far against things like Orks, Eldar and Dark Eldar and even faired decently against a Tau list in a 1500pt game. I've been nervous about fighting Tau because I know how much they shoot and this guy knew well enough how to dish out the Missiles and Commander Supported Riptide fire. However, it's the Space Marines that have been making me sweat with lasgun fire and enough bolter shots to test my Flyrants limits. I've recently ordered the Harpy/Crone kit and I'm not sure which one would be best to run on the spot but I think either would be a good addition to this list.
Tyranids - 2000 pts
Flying Hive Tyrant (TL Devourers, Poison)
Flying Hive Tyrant (TL Devourers, Poison)
20x Termagants(10 Devourers)
20x Termagants(10 Devourers)
3x Warriors ('Alpha'; #1 (Barbed Strangler, LW/BS) #2( BS, Devourer ) #3(Scything, Devourer) (Adrenal Glands)
3x Warriors ('Bravo'; #1 (Devourer, LW/BS) #2(BS, Devourer) #3(Scything, Devourer) (Adrenal Glands)
18x Hormigaunts(toxic)
18x Hormigaunts(toxic)
1 x 2 Zoanthrope Brood
2 x 1 Venomthropes
2 Dakkafex with Adrenals
Tyrannofex (Acid Spray, Dessicator Larvae/Electroshock Grubs)
So the idea is simple, the swarm daisy chains forward from the two venom thrope/warrior nodes who will in turn move up when I think it's safe enough. I have been playing a little too aggressively with my Flyrants but they have done a great job at diverting attention away and putting in some major damage. My zoanthropes don't usually come into play until the latter parts of the game but they provide synapse and when they hit they really hurt and I like that. My Carnifex seem to attract a lot of attention for some reason so I haven't had a game where they have done amazingly well yet but sometime I kit one of them out with a
STC for long range shooting to make them somewhat effective(for something other than wound tanks). The Tyrannofex generally takes MVP in most games because his torrent acid and staying power make him a serious force to be reckoned with. I've run him with regeneration for extra giggles and tears but I don't think it necessary seeing as how if anyone is so bold to charge him he's got two template weapons to keep 'most' at bay.
There have been a few games where I've replaced the second unit of Hormigaunts with a Mawlock and he did......SO WELL it made me feel a little bad for my opponent after he popped out of the ground to eat an entire unit the round after it deepstruck.
Anyways that's my list, if you have any ideas on how it could be improved I'd love to hear them. (running a semi-swarm list is great but I'd love to bring a scary
MC list!)
