I'm having a hard time deciding on what list I want to take to an up coming Combat Patrol event, so I turn you guys to help me out.

List 1
HQ
Librarian
Power Field Generator

Troops
10 man Tactical Squad
Flamer, Plasma Cannon, Power Sword Razorback (Heavy Bolters)

Heavy Support
5 man Devastator Squad
4 Lascannons

In my mind, this is a no frills list. Most of the time I'll combat squad the Tactical Squad keeping the Plasma Cannon in the back with the Devastators guarding them and any objectives in my deployment zone. The Librarian is attached to the Devastators giving them a nice bubble of protection and re-rolls with Divination. The Razorback and Tactical squad roams the field taking objectives and killing enemy units. Another version of this would have me drop two Lascannons to pick up two Plasma Cannons, Assault Cannons for the Razorback, and Veteran and Melta bombs for the Sergeant.

List 2
HQ
Librarian
Power Field Generator

Troops
5 man Tactical Squad
Flamer, Power Sword, Razorback (Heavy Bolters)

Fast Attack
5 man Assault Squad
Flamer, Power Sword

Heavy Support
5 man Devastator Squad
4 Lascannons

This list is very much the same as the last one, and would have a similar tactic behind it. However, this one has a bit more aggression with the Assault Squad. Basically, all three squads would be working together to support one another. The Assault Squad would move with the Tactical Squad to rush an objective before the Tactical Squad comes in to finish the job.

With armies limited to 500 points I'm not really worried about the big nastys that one might see in standard games; however, I'm sure I can and will be proven wrong on that. I sure Tau and Eldar can still do better even at this points level than anyone else, but I still would love some input.

The Twilight Zone

I don't think you need power swords on sarges in either list, perhaps points for a combi weapon instead...

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

@Dr. Serling

Maybe. I can understand the reasoning, but I just think that at the points level Combat Patrol is played at a Space Marine sarge with power sword is a pretty good fighter.

On a side note, I'm surprised by the lack of experience players have with Combat Patrol. I would have figure this would be fairly popular. Low model count, so new players can get in. Quick set up, so players could have a Combat Patrol tournament almost every week.

Also, giving the sarge a power sword, it might be worth to upgrade him to veteran status to get that extra attack.
