Hi everyone,

We have had the new formats for 3 months now and do not see anyone commenting about them anymore.

How does everyone feel about them now?

Personally, I love the new White Dwarf.
- They include rules and points, almost like a physical dataslate.
- They offer mini games, paint tips and conversions.
- I can pick and choose which issue I want without missing anything vital, eg I do not collect Hobbit or Fantasy so I do not need to buy that issue.

I cannot say for Visions as I have not bought any yet due to initial criticism and my local stores not having an open copy.

I still miss the ones when Chapter Approved was everywhere but at least this one feels better then what it was 4 months ago.

Share your thoughts.

I think the new White Dwarf (the 3 issues I've read) is better on a lot of levels, but I almost never reads it due to it not being subscription based.

I can get the new Visions for free every month, and as a free magazine it's fine wouldn't pay for it though, seems way too "filler" for me to actually pay for it. Its in dire need of some in-depth interviews with designers or other actual content I think.

White Dwarf seems quite good. I've only had a small look at the newer version of it but i would choose it over Visions, which is not a gamers magazine, unfortunately. You get lots of pictures, yaayyy. But for those who like seeing new models and how they operate in Battle Reports, that is now virtually non-existent. There is a few lines devoted to each battle report, done over in different languages. We should NOT pay so someone that speaks a different language can read the same rubbish-y report. Create a different version for other languages, keep them separate. It's really dissapointing that they took the regular WD from subscribers and thought Visions was a suitable replacement. It's not. Visions and WD are completely different. Those who prefer the gaming aspect over the painting (like me) have had their old magazine replaced with a painters paradise, BUT I'M NOT A PAINTER. The new WD looks like what it was before, which is good. And Visions is good for those who like that sort of thing. But it was wrong that GW should remove the old WD, and think that those same people who liked WD would be satisfied with Visions, which has virtually nothing for a 40K gamer, and have the nerve to continue charging us for Visions through our WD subscriptions, when we never even subscribed to the damn thing in the first place. Was a very bad move to replace monthly WD with monthly Visions, they should of replaced it with a subscription to weekly WD, and kept Visions separate. Now that people have gotten rid of their subcriptions, they are not now going out every week to pick up a copy of WD, as it just isn't convenient for many. GW was relying on people not bothering to cancel their Visions, and those same people buying WD when they pop into stores. Instead, lots of people have quit Visions, and now only pick up WD when a new model comes out, and they want the rules for it. Less money for GW, which just doesn't make sense.

My friend has a subscription and gets both, got to say I was not impressed.

He's going to cancel his sub and only buy WD when there are rules he wants.

I have zero interest in Visions, but WD seems okay. A small, cheap read I can pick up when I feel like it. I've bought two so far, and I'll probably pick one up every once in a while.

Visions is just extremely useless. Nothing but pictures, pictures and more pictures. If I want to see pretty pictures of painted models, I can go to the internet and see pictures for free.
The new White Dwarf is okay, but it is tiny and it being weekly makes it way too expensive. They should have kept the old monthly format.
I haven't bought anything since the change.

I actually like the new weekly WD format. The fact there are rules in there make it worth it (for example with the Imperial Knights, why spend £25 on a codex when you can get all the rules in WD fro £2.40?) and the articles are sometimes interesting. Also, they tend to be focused only on the current releases, it actually works out cheaper buying 1 WD focused entirely on what I want rather than £5 on a full magazine, 50% of which is either advertising or irrelevant to me.

Visions seems to be a wasted opportunity to me. If they had actually gone the whole hog on making it essentially a coffee table art book, as they seemed to be trying to do, and had put in the likes of concept art for new releases and classic GW artwork alongside the models (not all studio scheme) then it would be worth reading. Instead, we got different pictures of models that you can see in 360 HD online, and text that is 66% useless to any given reader.
