Subject: Yet another 40k mobile game, Warhammer 40k : Carnage
Hey guys, I didn't see a thread about this, so I figured I'd post it here.
In the side-scrolling action RPG, players will step into the shoes of a lone space marine battling against the Ork Menace. You can check out screenshots in the above gallery.
Carnage features over 50 levels and "countless hours" of gameplay. It contains a crafting and upgrading system that will allow players to build hundreds of different in-game items.
It also features some online features, such as a global leaderboard and the ability to recruit other players and build alliances.
It is being developed by Roadhouse Interactive, a studio that focuses primarily on smartphone and tablet games; its back catalogue contains games such as MechWarrior Tactics. It will be a paid app, though the exact price is yet to be revealed.
It looks alright, not the worst mobile game ever, but I still wish they'd announce something more in the vein of Dawn of War 3. Too many small 40k games these days...

The developers were talking in a 40k indie AMA a few months ago on Reddit, and I've seen some gameplay footage. looks like a fun, arcadey little time waster, but nothing must-play. Looks a hell of a lot better than that lane strategy game one though.

Do you know where one could find this gameplay footage? It would be neat to take a look at it.

I think it's misleading that this is called a "gameplay trailer" when it's just an over the shoulder view of someone playing it on an iPad, but here ya go:

I really want Bowser and the Goombas to win, so I won't be buying any Mario games for the foreseeable future.

Thanks! I hadn't realized that footage for this game was out for so long, I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it until now...
Still, now that I see gameplay, it actually doesn't look too too bad, could be a fun time waster, at the least. Too bad I don't have a device that would play it... All I have is a small, not-so-powerful Android phone...

wow another crappy phone game!
Im shocked that they made any money on the first one to give them the idea that these games are good They really need another THQ style developer to take interest and provide some mroe great memorable games rather than spunking out as many B list games on sucky platforms as they can, clearly trying to cash in on a trend about 5 years too late
'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!

THQ was a publisher, not a developer. I do wish we could get a company with their budget to publish 40k games again though; I'd take one Dawn of War or Space Marine game over a million of these little mobile time wasters. That said, the strategy game from Slytherine looks cool, and the new Mordheim game could be good.

VANCOUVER, BC – April 8, 2014 – Roadhouse Interactive Limited, a leading developer and publisher of tablet, smartphone and browser games, today announced that the hotly anticipated mobile game Warhammer 40,000: Carnage will be releasing this May 2014. This side-scrolling action RPG is set to release globally for iOS and Android in English, French, German and Spanish.
“This is our most exciting project to date. We’ve taken the best of the Warhammer 40,000 universe and built a game that will appeal to seasoned 40k fans and more casual gamers alike. The game is full of explosive, adrenaline-fuelled action, in stunning environments that will be familiar to many,” said Tarrnie Williams, President, Roadhouse Interactive.
Warhammer 40,000: Carnage takes gamers straight into a world of chaotic action, as an iconic and powerful Space Marine, ripping through the Ork horde with brutal menace. Players equip themselves with a lethal arsenal of Boltguns, Chainswords, Grenades, Thunder Hammers, and more.
A twisted sense of gratification comes from unleashing Carnage on hordes of menacing Orks and other warring factions, on a planet mysteriously engulfed in Rage. The game is a fast-moving action Side-Scroller, where the right combination of weapons and Wargear and upgrades, make the difference between life and death. Players can also team up to complete challenging Fireteam missions.
The Space Marines must uncover the truth of what’s happened to the once prosperous planet, Mithra, level by level, before the rage storm drives the entire population to insanity and violent death!
Players can expect free new content at regular intervals.

Isn't this basically the same as the free one that you could download on the Xbox?
Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

well it just crashed out to the 'desktop' on me, just as i got to a larger mini-boss type ork. and despite having gone past a 'checkpoint', I've just gone back in and its put me back at the start. which doesn't bode well. hmm
(although I'm on an old ipad2, and have had that crashing problem with a few more graphically intensive games, so you might ot have that problem on newer devices, hopefully)
other than that dumb fun so far.
doesn't control that well, but then i say that about most action games on touch interfaces, so ymmv

Having a lot of fun with it. It's one of the better platformers I've played on iPad, but if you don't like the controls you won't like the controls for any tablet platformers.
The upgrade system is solid, but nothing unique.
Can't wait till the KillTeam missions come out so I can team up with my buddies.
Honestly, I'm pretty damn impressed with it.

Played it last night. Great stuff. Didn't appreciate being chased by a freakin' Mega Dread when all I had to shoot it with was a puny plasma pistol lol
Maybe you need to earn more stars? That or they're going to add stuff on the update.

I suspect it's just the iPad 2. Runs fine on my iPad (gen3 I think)

Runs ok on my 3, though there's massive slowdown on the mega dred levels.
Marine levels max out at 40, getting more stars doesn't seem to be making any difference.

You mean like Creative Assembly and Slitherine? GW have taken the shotgun approach to licensing over the last couple of years but that doesn't mean that all the licensed games are being made by unknown or bad developers, nor are they all F2P mobile games.

I got this this morning and really quite like it. Never played a platformer on the iPad before and the controls take some getting used to but it soon feels okay.
