Hey folks,

Looking for your collective ideas on what works with the SM Codex using the Imperial Fists chapter tactics?

I'm assuming concentrating on the bolter drill and tank hunter skills, plus making use of Lysander is the way to go ... but as I don't get to play much since my little one came along it's a slow learning curve for me!

Any help ... experience ... thoughts ... are welcome

I would tmake advantage of your natural gifts. Bring lots of bolter/hb/sb/bp dakka. Centurions are great stationary fire bases to stack heavy weapons on. Imperial fists also pair well with inquisitors and imperial knights.

Also in the event you do not own it the sentinels of terra supplement is something I would try and get my hands on. Ideally used. It's rather nice and has rules for both imperial fist and crimson fists

If you want Lysander, take him with a squad of Hammernators. Don't Land Raider them, DS them in. Take pods of plasma/combi-weapon tac squads. Stick a few locator beacons on them to precision strike in the terminators and make good use of bolter drill. In your backfield plant Lascannon Devastators or Centurion Devastators behind an Aegis Defense line or in cover supplemented by Thunderfire Cannons (if using Sentinels of Terra, take Centurion Devastators from Elite and TFCs from Heavy).

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

As someone that plays Fists exclusively I can say DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA! as much as you can squeeze into the army.

I try to think of my army as a gunline/flanking army. I use Storms and Bikes to get into the enemy while my bolt weapons just lay down fire.

You would be surprised how often I hear 'that's such a stupid rule' or 'I hate this rule' when I re-roll all my 1's

You should absolutely try out the Sentinels of Terra supplement because 'close range bolter drill' allows you to re-roll all misses, not just ones (and it works in overwatch too!)

Some of my favorite units are a squad of bolter scouts in a land speeder storm. Deep strike them in and put a heavy flamer on the speeder; that's a nice objective clearing unit!

You could also spam 60 bolter scouts all infiltrated, scouted, and moved into double-tap range turn 1 lol!

I also like devastators with lascannons and a little inquisition divination, although be sure to give them some ablative wounds so that each model lost isn't like 35 points lol!

Lysander isn't bad deep striking in with some termies actually; if you have enough other stuff to kill the troops, let him run around and hunt warlords and MCs! He suffers a bit from being on foot (now that lots of warlords are on bikes or are fast) so I personally like the LRR as a transport.

Sentinels of Terra are really good at killing troops so use that to your advantage (tank hunter to rip open transports, close range bolter drill to hit the contents).

Thanks folks, the Sentinels of Terra supplement sounds like a good option and I like the blitz style tactics and blazing bolter-dakka ideas
