After explaining my army to a friend, he decided within a second that I was gonna be fielding an army he dubbed: The Teriyaki Death Korps
My army is IG, and so I decided why not mix it up and use a lot of 3rd party parts, as it can be cheaper then using GW, and allows me to make a force that is completely 100% me, instead of the Vanilla Brigade known as the Cadian.
My army is gonna be composed of several different companies items: The torso and legs from the Wargames Factory Ashigaru, the Arms from their ww2 German line, shoulder pads from their Samurai Cavalry, and West Wind Productions British gas-mask heads... Upon hearing the gasmask part my friend instantly said "Oh, so a teriyaki death korps? neat"
So I have decided to come here and ask you, fellow Dakkanauts, what is your opinion of my plan? And please don't be hating on me for not using a ton of GW or FW models, I plan on using the DKoK commissar and GW vehicles, as well as the heavy weapons (With MAYBE cadian advisors to assist my boys in using the things)

Part of my armies story is that the Administratum misplaced the information about my armies home worlds existence, and only 350 years was it rediscovered, by a Rogue Trader named Gaius Alterin, who thought the planet to be uninhabited, only to discover that there was human life. Thus it was reclaimed by the imperium, and has slowly modernized with the aid of offworld military advisors (Either represented with cadian or Victorian miniatures Praetorians), who train them to use heavy weapons and use their bolt action flashlights in combat, as well as modern tactics and doctrine. The Only thing they WON'T be trained to use are tanks and other tracked vehicles.

I got a bunch of storm troopers from DreamForge. Painted them red, green, and silver. Played them yesterday and everyone was calling them Christmas-Guard.

Indeed. It's Japanese culinary method wherein foods are boiled or grilled in soy sauce.

Also planning on some Scout Sentinels and have samurai pilot them, as a sort of cavalry force, anti-tank or anti infantry strikers

Snake? Oh, Metal Gear, I didn't realize they had a character named raiden, never played the game so yeah, no, I used raiden because it translates to thunder, but since yyou pointed out that, I guess I will have to change it so I don't have to deal with stupid stuff what about the nickname Nikuya?

Well Purifier, when I was talking to a friend of mine about the army, and this also happened on two other occasions, I explained what my model was gonna end up looking like, and after I was done with the description, he determined that the army sounded a lot like the DKoK, It didn't help that I posted this:

Raiden is the playable character in the second half of Metal Gear Solid 2, and annoyed a lot of fans because they were hoping to play through the whole game as Snake instead.

Well, that isn't why I chose that name, if it had anything to do with video games it would have been from mortal combat.
And Nikuya SHOULD mean butcher, not certain as I can't find my Japanese dictionary right now.

Ok, I still don't get the teriyaki reference. Will they be ripped to small bits of meat?

Well I understand now that isn't why you chose the name, but I think we've shown connections can be made anyways. I'm not saying to change it, but you might want to be aware that others will likely make the same connection in the future.

Now to get enough Commisars and Priests to make my boys the most heroic bolt-action flashlight armed guardsmen with little training the best in the game

COurse, my army is gonna still have "Foreign Advisors", in the form of Praetorian guards, who I was gonna mix into my HWS, as well as my platoons and even my command squad
