Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I am magnetising my bommer kit.

Liker most magnetisers I added the wing extensions to the bommer and used the wing root supa-shootas as the stock pair of guns. Partly for practicality purpose and partly because it looks damn awesome.

I have assembled the rest of the bommer apart from some select bits.

- The hardpoint behind the pilot with options for an engine louvre, turret or rear facing gun.
- The underwing bombs of which only the rokkits and the larger pair of bombs survive.
- An underwing gun pod pair made out of the nose guns and the burna bombs.
- The wing mounted guns and alternate air brake flaps.

I have glued in different but specific bits like the engine cover and exhausts in a way that doesnt completely follow any one of the three designs so that no-one can get super anal and insist that the hull is of any one specific flyer design.

Now magnetising is a pain and I plan to make life a little easier for myself by combining options. I want functionality from my aircraft so to get some bommer in I am wanting at least the burna-bommer mode functional, the blitza-bommer doesn't work well with current rules and is less important. I will also want a Dakkajet and am trying to resist the temptation to just glue it.

Now with the above options I can fit all three bommer types however I am feeling lazy and dont want to do tricky magentising work when I can get away with not doing so.

So, here is where you come in.

Q1. If I glue the wing supa-shootas in place I will have two pairs of shootas in the wings, instant Dakkajet yes. But if I also add a pair of magnetised bombs and a drop in top turret will this be a Burna-bommer with a "quad linked supa shoota" i.e. a badly calibrated or slow firing twin linked supa shoota.

Q2. If I only mount the pair of big bomms (blita bommer), and only use the top turret (burna bommer) can I just say which bommer it is without it being 'confusing'? Remembering it will also have four front guns.

Q3. Should I paint up the big bomms in burny colours to identify them as burna-bomms, keep only the top turret option and always take a burna-bommer over a blitza-bommer because blitza-bommers suck? If I do so will this make it unequivicably a burna-bommer even with four permanent frontal guns? Even for random opponents who insist on WYSIWYG?

If so I may have only one bit of magnetising to do, the underwing hardpoint which fits the two big bomms (either bommer) or the gun pods (third twin linked supa shoota upgrade). This will involve slight conversion work on the bomms.

Notes.
I made gun pods ouf of the burna bomms because I didnt like the nose guns, only want to use the beefier bomms for either bommer, and believe that as the third pair of guns is an optional upgrade it is better represented as underwing stores.

Unconverted the gunpod hardpoint is where the burna bomms would go. The big bomms go in their usual place. So I would need two magnets per wing. The top turret/engine louvre is drop in and held with a pin. The rear mounted shoota will not be used, it combined parts with the turret option and also only fits flush with one cockpit canopy.

So far I like the bommer model, I honestly think it looks just better with four front guns, it looks awesome with underwing stores guns as the dakka is closely located with the third shootas below and between the other pair. I also used the extra shoota bits to double up the wing guns so they are the same size as the wing root pair. Sorry no pictures available.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I used 3MM magnets and did all the bombs so I could use whichever ones I wanted to and as a bonus can remove them when they are dropped. At least that was the thought but all I've used mine for is a Dakkajet. Drill out a spot where each bomb type would be glued on and a magnet on top of each bomb. I did do some snipping on them so they sat more flush. Mine also has LEDSs in the cockpit and in each engine.

I have been thinking on this.

For any pick up game the unit will likely be used as a Dakkajet, or it is best to do so.
The only time it will be used as something else is for a very casual game, where having odd units is entertaining and encouraged. Those games will include only those players who really wont get anal about whether the model is properly representative.

There should therefore be no issue. The shortcuts will only make the bommers 'confusing', only for casual games with lists designed for fun I would try out a bommer. Players who like to agree to field armies based around 'fun' units wont get anal over the model, and will accepta bommer as what I say it is just so long as they can see the underwing bombs and the turret.
The Dakkajet used in open play will be equipped exactly according to WYSIWYG, with six front guns, no turret or bombs, so nobody should therefore have any problems with it even a 'That Guy' looking for an excuse for a whine.

Problem solved, Methinks I will glue on the wing guns and magnetise the underwing stores. It will look brutal and have much simplified swaps.

Thank you for the reply.

I wouldn't be too fussed about WYSIWYG with Orks, that ruins their whole jam. My Dakkajet is crammed with guns in every orifice, simply because that is what I think Orks would do. If some guns are good, are not more guns better? As long as you just use the rules correctly (ie; draw LoS from the 'real' guns) then cosmetics are just that, cosmetic.
