Hi all,

After more U-turns than a TWOC-er showing off his handbrake skills, I have finally decided to model my C:SMs as a Deathwatch army.

I have created a little bit of alternative history for my force, set out below:

After the devastating Ork attack on Rynn's World, the High Lords of Terra issued an Order that the Crimson Fists Chapter be dissolved due to catastrophic casualties. The then-serving Chapter Master petitioned the High Lords to let the Chapter continue and rebuild.

Here's where it changes:

The petition failed, and the Chapter were ordered to become members of the Deathwatch. With their unparalleled experience in fighting Orks and the majority of the force being veterans of many years experience, the High Lords saw the Deathwatch as the natural calling for a Chapter on the verge of extinction.

The Crimson Fists, although devastated by their losses in both battle-brothers and identity, obeyed with the unswerving loyalty to the Golden Throne for which they had become famous.

So, this is where we are up to. I am making a circa 3000 point, very elite force of Marines that will be predominantly made up of Crimson Fists. All will be painted in Deathwatch Colours and will have, where possible the Deathwatch bolters, shoulder pads and helmets.

The list is very elite and small in number. The reason I wanted this is to add some of the goodies from the new codex to my Dark Angels, but as will all projects, it got a little out of hand!

The main question I have is what items to give to my Vanguard marines? It will be a 10 man squad.....here's the rest of the Strike Force-

Pedro Kantor, Honour Guard (including Champion) in a drop pod.
Watch Captain
Librarian
Chaplain
2x 10 man tactical squads (both with Rhinos) - 2x HB, 2x Grav-gun, combi-grav/flamer, power fist, melta bombs)
Vanguard Vets - 10 marins
Sternguard (HB, HF, MBs, 8x combi-weapons & Drop pod)
Venerable Dreadnough
2x Storm Talon (with sykhammers)
Storm Raven (with hurrican bolters)
Fire Raptor (auto cannons)
Dev Centurions (Gravs and MLs)

I was thinking of Relic blade & grav pistol, 2x TH&SS, 3x PW & BP, 1x LCs, 3x CS&BP with melta bombs for the sergeant.

What do you think?

Cheers!

Melta is always useful. Not an expert on vanilla marines but I know it's hard to go wrong meltas.
As far as the lore goes, it sounds like a pretty cool theme for an elitist army, and should give your army some nice individuality.

Cheers for the reply.

I was thinking of taking 4x combi-melta and 4x combi-grav in the sternguard squad.

I was thinking that they can tank hunt or pick up an objective (as I'm using CT:CF) whilst the Raptor / Centurions can take out anything reallynasty
