I am currently working on some Legion Of The Damned minis but do not want the traditional flames painted on them. Fluff-wise, the flames are supposed to dance across the armour so I would like something more 3D without having to do a lot of sculpting. A possibility could be colored yarn or something like that? Any ideas as to how I can accomplish this?

All skill is in vain when an angel comes down and pisses in the flintlock of your musket.

…And if you mean heretic due to the fact that I detest your rotted, pathetic, corpse of an emperor, then yes, I guess that I qualify there also…

You can paint them to have more depth if you put a lot of effort in to getting it right....

I'm trying to figure out if they were done by airbrush or not, I'm thinking not simply because you'd need tiny stencils and it would take forever to do them because they're so tiny.

I vote not airbrushed.
Just a heady blend of witchcraft, magic, patience and practice.

Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.
Oli: But it fits through the doors, Look!
