I've seen a lot of rumors about Chaos Space Marines getting 4 new supplements, one for each god and/or the 4 legions that are assigned to those gods respectively. Straight up I'm gonna say that's dumb, you might get some new wargear, traits, whatever, but it isn't going to feel like a new army. You can run Khorne, Nurgle armies already without the need for those supplements.
The current two supplements that are out now I like, and they make sense, they change your army, make it feel somewhat unique. They may not have the greatest special rules, wargear etc, but at least the offer interesting alternatives to the usual.
But I would really like to see, is GW releasing an Alpha Legion Supplement. I mean come on, they're by far the most interesting chaos legion imo. And GW really doesn't have anything to lose in releasing such a codex. Instead of the charge straight at the army tactics that most chaos armies work by, why not have the opportunity to have a squad hiding around a corner, only 12" away from the enemy, flood the battlefield with masses of cultists, or mess around with the troops of that Imperial Guard player you like to crush! They could have bonuses to taking imperial guard as allies, and even have the ability to "plant" traitors on enemy squads. Which could lock that unit in combat with that one traitor, its not going to have a devastating effect but it causes a nice enough disruption for that enemy squad.
I dont know if anyone has played the Heralds of Ruin Killteam rules, but I play as an Alpha Legion Killteam. Aspiring Champs, Chaos Acolytes, CSM, Chosen, Bikes, Raptors etc etc, all have shrouded in the first turn. Aspiring champ (excluding bike, termie, and jump pack) and chosen get infiltrate. And cultists get scouts. It just makes for such a different game play, and I love it.
And on top of all that, with all there amazing lore, they have no special characters, nothing in the codex about them at all, and it sucks.
So I would love to see an Alpha Legion supplement! If anyone has heard any rumors on this actually being a possibility please make my day!

Might I suggest the alternate game Warhammer 30K. Forgeworld currently has their 3rd book up as preorder and it does contain rules for playing as Alpha Legion. Good ones at that, I've seen them, including being able to use Alpharius as a Lord of War. And before anyone who doesn't know gets started on Lords of War, in 30k you may only spend 25% of your total points on one, so no 1500 point games with a titan showing up.

Basically what he said , unless GW releases a codex that is a elaborate cypher I don't htink it would live upt to the alpha legion "fluff".

Alpha Legion is best because it's just enough to tease you but not reveal everything.

Part of the fun is the mystery.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Alpha Legion would be the hardest to translate to tabletop, considering in battle they aren't really that different to other CSM. All their shenanigans happen before the game starts, probably decades before.

Not to mention they'd bring nothing new that Chaos doesn't already have, except possibly infiltrators, but they're not unique to AL.

Read the 30k rules for them, they'll change your tune.

Hey now, I've been waiting for cult units that weren't basic marines for more than a decade now.

Or at least rubrics who aren't terrible.

I second the notion as AL will be definitely my CSM army. What I could see for AL is an influx of imperial armoury at the cost of Daemonic Engines. I'll trade Hellbrutes for Dreadnoughts, Hellchickens for those flying bricks and forgefiends for Razorbacks any time of the day. Also, I want plasma cannons on my havocs.
As it is now, you would be better of playing AL as Space Marines with Raven Guard chapter tactics.

Might make up for our lack of allies...

Would be nice to have some new books to go on. Feels like all the other guys are getting the love with various suppliments, ally armies.

We get a couple of uninspired suppliments and a cover save for helbrutes.

I wouldn't mind at all playing a 30k army, only thing is I dont play competitively, I just play with friends, and currently we all play 40k, although we will be starting a Heralds Of Ruin Killteam campaign, where I can play as Alpha Legion, but how would I go about incorporating a 30k army into 40k, against 40k armies. Are the rules the same or are they different?

That's fine! Why not have a table that the Alpha Legion can roll on before deployment that represents such things. The results would represent some of the things the Alpha Legion may have done, something similar to the Chaos Boon Table for example, but obviously not quite as big! I know that Alpha Legion all call themselves Alpharius and undergo surgery to look the same but it would still be great to see some Special Characters, surely there are some in the Alpha Legion that are far more skilled or smarter or stronger than others

Thar idea reminds me of the 2nd Ed Tyranid strategy tables. These were effects that caused problems for the non-tyranids due to the bugs effect on the world.

A Word in your Ear: Well placed members of the Alpha Legion sow discord in the enemy troops, causing caution and distrust. The Alpha Legion player may force a single unit of his opponents to be placed in reserve.

Misfiled Orders: The Alpha Legion are experts at disrupting support from their enemies. Opponents of an Alpha Legion army suffer -1 to all reserve rolls all game.

Forewarned is Forearmed: The Alpha Legion relies upon accurate inform won passed on from their informants. An Alpha Legion army may nominate one unit before the beginning of Turn One. That unit gains the Interceptor special rule.

Stuff like that?

I think that all the chaos marine armies are limited the alpha legion included there so much different personality between the legions themselves if you've read the HH series not to mention how we should be able to take renegades with regular space marine gear the crimson slaughter supplement was garbage IMHO and didn't help with the problem at all I mean is it to much to ask to have stern guards in my iron warriors army!

How do we know there isn't already an Alpha Legion supplement? Would we know it exists until they want us to?
