I have been playing a fair bit recently and have discovered I have two fairly big holes in my army, one being flyers/AA, this has been rectified with the ordering of a StormTalon but also despite my Imperial First tactics working well as a gunline I need a unit that can get close to the enemy/lay on some serious firepower, I have a bike Squadron that are somewhat successful but have all been lost to concentrated Pulse rifle shots on more than one occasion.

I am looking at possibly adding 3 speeders set up the following -

2 with HB and Typhoon missile launcher
1 on its own with a Heavy Flamer and typhoon

The pair with HB's will run as a potent AT unit putting 4 S8 missiles down for at least one turn(!) and then can also work through infantry with frag missiles and 6 HB shots (rerolling 1's), the flamer one will liikely spend some time out of range but will act as the squadrons last stand, if the other two pop it's last hurrah will be a rush into range and unloading the flamer.

I know the LS is quite fragile but for 225pts it is a heck of a lot of Dakka.

HB&TML looks good but I don't get the niche of the other load out

If I am honest, I really like flamers, seem to have more success with them than any other, with my sensible head on I am thinking maybe all three HB and TML..

6 S8 missiles against a tank or 9 HB shots with a reroll plus 6 frag missiles against an infantry target.

As I mostly play Tau I can see whole squads of Firewarriors or suits falling apart to this.

They actualy maek real good mobile fire support. I have been unsing 3 Typhoons since the Codex: Space Wolves came out with my Space Wolf Army and they do great for lilling off light armor and trasports. They can quickly get to side and rear armor and shoot from a safe distance usaly.
Vs. Horde Armies I can put out 9 Heavy Bolter Shots and 6 Cupcakes, even if spread out I usaly kill off about a dozen models.

Long-Range Land Speeder Pilot

I'd say landspeeders either want to:

- Stay at range (TMLs + HBs) to avoid getting shot as much as possible
or
- Close the range as quickly as possible to do the maximum damage possible before dying (double MM or HF)

I use speeders in both roles - the typhoons at long range to avoid enemy small arms, and the HF and MM ones deep-striking to get an alpha-strike on the best possible target.

The typhoons are reliable firepower but rarely spectacular, while the suicide-drop speeders are high risk but can cause game-winning damage if they work!

I'd avoid typhoon/HF as you're either wasting the HF entirely, or ignoring the typhoon's excellent range advantage.

Remember speeders are very fragile, and their only defences are either not getting shot down, or not caring if they get shot down!

I am really warming to speeders, especially with imperial fists. A 2 heavy flammer option on a speeder is fantastic. 2 heavy flammer a puts giant holes in scoring units, the speeder is fast and can get those guns into firing position. Good match of platform to gun.

Furthermore, you don't pay the twin linked "penalty" like you do with bikes. Bikes are better overall, but being fists, I try to find as many non-TL heavy bolters as possible.

Lastly, not sure about missiles with flammers. I try to specialize units, so if those missiles don't kill troops (can't keep the launchers straight, between standard, typhoon, and cyclone. Isn't there one more?) don't buy them.

TL;DR: Heavy Flammer = MVP, speeders are good for fists.

I like the cheapness of dual flamer speeders. Cheaper even than a whirlwind and can really generate alotta wounds. Die pathfinders and cultists
