So I have decided to take my old eldar out of their box and strip/repaint/convert them into something that is current, and I might be able to play with (and not be terrible). I've looked at different lists, since the last time I played was 2 editions ago, and want to take units that cover my bases. Below is what I have currently.

Avatar
Farseer (Spear)
Eldrad
3 Warlock (2 Sword, 1 Spear)
Fuegan

35 Guardians
2 Grav Platforms (1 Bright Lance, 1 starcannon)
8 Dire Avengers (Exarch)
8 Rangers

6 Striking Scorpions (Exarch)
6 Fire Dragons

Vyper (Bright Lance)
4? Jetbike pieces
6 Swooping Hawks

Wraithlord (Starcannon)
2 Wave Serpent
Falcon
3 Warwalkers

So Far, I'm coming up with a core list I like, something along the lines of:

Farseer
Guardian Blob behind and Aegis and Quad (Flyer)
Wave Serpent with DA (Infantry)
Wave Serpent with FD (Vehicles, 2+ Armor)
War Walkers with Scatter Lasers (AV 12 or Infantry)
Scorpions (Backfield pressure)

Are there basics I'm missing. I'm looking for something around 1500 or 1850, so I can play with it in some of the larger gatherings. Don't have a full list yet, still costing things out. Missing anything?

The Twilight Zone

With what you have, that is a pretty solid list.

A warlock(or spiritseer) for the guardian blob provides a huge boost. 2+ cover behind the ADL will ward off a lot of shooting. Also, having an character to eat a rampaging demon prince is always handy.

Wave serpents are absolutely amazing at the moment. Scatter lasers on top, holo fields on the chassis, underslung cannon is personal preference.

Avengers can be in squads of 5 to simply field the serpent, or 10 for actual combat. Generally, guardians in serpents do the same job for less if you want 10, so make sure you play to the strengths of avengers if you shell out the extra points.

Scatter walkers have always been good, and are still good.

Scorpions are OK, but require a bit of finesse to use. The claw exarch is basically required as you will win a challenge against anything short of a named character or MC. Also take monster hunter if you can spare the points.

A unit that is massively improved since the old dex are swooping hawks. A 6 man team costs less than 100 points for a no scatter unit with major dakka+a large blast. I like the exarch for BS5 on the blast and a chance to blind the enemy, but you can skip em if points are tight. Their haywire grenades also help against armor should you need.

The only major thing you are lacking is AV14. A bright lance, singing spear, and 5 melta guns are currently your only chance to stop a land raider. With leman russes coming back in a big way, you may find yourself lacking in heavy AT. The hawks help, and maybe take that vyper for another cheap, mobile lance.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

This is what I came up with. I have a smallish budget to fill things out or make a couple of replacements. How does this look, right now it's 5 pts under.

Farseer (Singing Spear, Runes of Warding, Runes of Witnessing) 130 points

Fire Dragons (6, Exarch , Firepike, Fast Shot, Wave Serpent, Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Holofields, Vectored Engines) 349 points

Guardian Defenders (20, Warlock, Platform Bright Lance x2) 255 points

Guardian Defenders (12, Warlock, Wave Serpent, Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Holofields) 288 points

Rangers (8) 96 points

War Walker Squadron (3, Scatter Lasers (6), Ghost Walk Matrix) 240 points

Fire Prism (Holofields, Spirit Stones, Crystal Targeting Matrix) 175 points

Swooping Hawks (6, Exarch, Sunrifle, Night Vision, Marksman's Eye) 152 points

Vyper (Bright Lance) 60 points

Aegis Defense Line (Quad Gun) 100 pts

1845 points

Any glaring holes?
