Hi Guys!

Well, I'm always after more advice! I have not fielded my army yet, but a good chunk of it is painted.

My main opponent is building Grey Knights allied with Dark Angels (It's OK - He's not a douche), I'm using Khorne Daemons with Khorne Chaos Marine allies.

So far I have painted:

Blood thirster (with 2 axes would possibly field as Skarbrand)
Skulltaker
Herald of Khorne

5 Flesh hounds

51 Bloodletters (one squad of 20, one of 11, 2 of 10) all with Icons of Chaos/or/banners of rage, instruments and champions.

Heavy support - Daemon Prince.

For the Chaos marines:
12 Berserkers

10 marines, mark of khorne, icon of khorne, flamer, plasma pistol, power sword

Khorne lord (plasma pistol and powerfist)

Helbrute (plasma cannon)

---

I have another squad of Bloodletters on the way, a rhino for the berserkers or chaos marines (obv. drop the extra 2 berserkers to fit), another helbrute, another daemon prince for heavy support...

I will eventually include something like a soulgrinder (once I make a model I like), a Skullcannon (same comment), another herald on juggernaught, karanak, more flesh hounds, or even a vindicator...

I see the army using a lot of deepstriking to try and get numbers of daemons in combat quickly to give them a chance of avoiding getting shot to death early (hence the number of bloodletters).

So, a lot of info there! am I headed in the right direction? I know marines are expensive allies, I won't always use them in games, and that khorne armies are a little limited compared to mixed power armies.

...
51 Bloodletters

This is why you try before you buy man. Letters are total crap, despite being easily the coolest looking.

I've never used them for this, but with such numbers *maybe* mass deep strike + heralds + perhaps Bloodcrushers for a mobile icon is workable

Khorne gets the short end of the stick in almost anything, and even the few decent units we get (Thirster, Dogs) can be cherry picked by a player who DGAF about theme...

That's ok, I know bloodletters are essentially 'poor' ork boyz stats wise. I'm staying dedicated to the Khorne theme, so thems my troops!

I'm not too worried about being hugely competerive, but. Would like to if Khorne armies have any tricks or good combos... Are Khorne furies worth it as an assault squad for example?

You dont want marines on foot dude. They suck. Land raider or bust.

You may have more luck with a chaos marine primary, 2 land raiders, then ally in your daemons. Ok you only get to put down 20 letters , but you can get more with aportalglyph

Hey dude, I've been playing Khorne for years. Here's what I'd recommend.

About the Bloodletters:
Sure, they're bad, here's what you can do against your opponent. GK and DA are probably coming to you in a Land Raider or bike squad is what I'm guessing. Hide all of your bloodletters out of line of sight if possible or in ruins for a 4+ cover where you can go to ground for a 3+. Deny your opponent any shooting and just wait for him to come to you. Once they get close, charge with your 3 attacks. Try not to attack terminators, but if that's all that comes, might as well go for it. Treat Berzerkers the exact same way.

If your opponent's list seems to be more of a park n shoot kind of list, that makes things much harder. For the BLs, you'll need to deep strike. Never foot slog. If you do, don't DS right in front of them, do it where he can't see you or has to move to see you. Still, it'll suck because he'll mow you down with a single unit's round of shooting. You must put the Berzerkers in a Rhino or Land Raider in this scenario and rush them up, or they'll just be killed before they can get there.

Your Bloodthirster and Daemon Prince will be very strong. Make sure they swoop till they get close enough to the enemy. Eat those Terminators for breakfast.

Hopefully you have a rhino for the marines, this makes them mobile, flexible, and more effective.

Lastly, try to get more flesh hounds. These guys rock, especially with a herald + a juggernaut.

Anyway, good luck and happy wargaming!

Where does the third bloodletter attack come from? Your not wasting a herald in that unit are you?

Or is there some way to get them to base 2?

Oh whups. Forgot they don't have rage xD, my bad. I primarily play CSM, it's been at least a year or so since I've run em haha.

Yeah, low attacks is a killer, its why I was thinking of using skarbrand

Hmm if you're going down the bloodletter route .. you'll need to attack, and keep them alive. I have had a lot of lick with belakor, who can cast invisibility on a unit. He can also use mental fortitude to remove pinning so you can go to ground without the lost turn. Perhaps as leader of your marine contingent?
He also adds another FMC, which you want to saturate the enemy with

Deep striking skarbrand could work. Double edged sword tho.
