Space Marine Scout with Sniper Rifle

Hello all!

This is an attempt of mine at creating an Ultramarine List with some IG/AM allies. My opponents do not generally bring fliers, however if I happen to verse fliers that my quad-gun cannot handle, I could swap the Wyverns with Hydras. I am aiming for a semi-competitive list — one that wins fun play and does not auto-lose in a tournament.

Primary Detachment: Space Marines with Ultramarine Chapter Tactics (1150 Points):

HQ — Chief Librarian Tigurius — 165 Points

Elites — 10 Sternguard Veterans — 3 Combi-meltas, 4 Combi-gravs — 300 Points

Dedicated Transport — Drop Pod — 35 Points

Troops — Tactical Squad — Plasma Gun, Combi-plasma — 165 Points

Dedicated Transport — Rhino — 35 Points

Troops — Tactical Squad — Plasma Gun, Combi-plasma — 165 Points

Dedicated Transport — Rhino — 35 Points

Heavy Support — 3 Centurions — Grav cannons and Grav-amps — 250 Points

Allied Detachment: Astra Militarum (750 Points):

HQ — Company Command Squad — Vox-caster, 3 Meltaguns — 95 Points

HQ — Ministorum Priest — 25 Points

Troops — Infantry Platoon — Platoon Command Squad with Vox-caster and Mortar (40 pts), Infantry Squad with Vox-caster, Flamer and Autocannon (70 pts), Infantry Squad with Flamer and Autocannon (65 pts), Infantry Squad with Flamer and Autocannon (65 pts) — 240 Points

Fast Attack — Hellhound Squadron — 2 Bane Wolves — Heavy Flamers — 260 Points

Heavy Support — Wyvern Battery — 2 Wyverns — 130 Points

Fortification (100 Points):

Fortification — Aegis Defence Line — Quad-gun — 100 Points

2000 Points

The Space Marine army is very mechanised and will advance to the mid-field with the IG hiding behind the aegis line. Tiggy rides with the Centurions.

Feedback will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

IMO grav guns are wasted on anything that does not have relentless. So either save 20pst from the sternguard or make them combiplas or HF

the rest of the SM looks good and I don't play AM so IDK about them

Thank you for your reply!

I would normally agree with grav guns being wasted on non-relentless units, however I have had enormous success with them in the past, being able to alpha strike Centurions off the board! After all, it is essentially a Plasma Gun without the death risk and 3" extra, and with Concussive! But against GEQ and the like, I will probably use more combi-meltas or (heavy) flamers.

Gravs only have a 9" range if you moved. But I suppose if you drop pod in next to the cents then you are within range. I would say just use Tac doctrine on the alpha to mitigate gets hot rolls.

Yeah, I would generally agree that Plasma is better, but I conveniently have 4 combi-gravs, and only 3 combi-plasmas, 2 of which I am using on the Sergeants on the Tactical Squads.
