Hi, wonderful to be a part of this forum here.

This may have been asked before, but what would be a suitable basing technique to use for Cadiqn shock troops? I've always pictured sandy/desert themes, or rubble and ruins. What others techniques out there would look good on these troops?

Thanks in advance,

Hi there.

What are you going for? What's the fluff behind your force? Are they fighting in a strictly defensive role, like planetary defense forces? Are they an expeditionary regiment, sent far offworld to fight in an environment they are (un)suited for?

You can have woodland-camouflaged troops finding out too late that their deployment zone is a dessert. You can have perfectly adapted ice-world specialists.... so, anything goes, really.

So, what do you want your dudes to look like? Adapted or rather miss-deployed?

Snow-worlds are fairly easy to do for bases. There's a couple of tricks that boil down to PVA glue and baking soda.

I'll be trying a mixture of cheap acrylic brown (for room painting or similar) with lots of sand thrown in to make some sort of muddy, swampy look. If you want to wait, I'll be using that on my demons and see how it goes.

Also, look for tutorials by Eons_of_Battle. He's got a bunch of simple, effective basing techniques.
