Have you ever thought about how guardsmen get around? Some walk, others ride in chimeras, tauroxs and some lucky fellows get to zoom about in Valkyries and other flying contraptions. Oddly it seems none of them ever ride around in good old fashioned trucks, however I would like to try and remedy this with rules for a good old motorized workhorse.
What follows is some ideas I have regarding rules for a couple different units with different roles, I'm interested to hear your opinions, I think I'll playtesting some of these (after a bit of converting

)
Unit name: Light Truck
Your standard light transport vehicle, used across the galaxy for a variety of tasks, usually on agriworlds or as delivery vehicles, though not very durable it is faster then walking and very cheap. Some maniacs even equip them with heavy weapons and armour to use as fast assault vehicles, while many PDFs and militias use them to haul ammunition and the wounded.
Force Organization Slot: Fast Attack
Unit composition: 1 to 6 light trucks - Each light truck counts as a separate unit but they deploy as one unit in all circumstances
points cost: 15 per truck
Transports: 6
Armor: 9/9/9
Hull points: 1
Movement: 12"
May take armour plating for 10 points
May replace transport ability with:
Heavy Bolter - 15 points
Auto Cannon - 15 points
Missile Launcher - 20 points
If none of the above are chosen any truck may replace its transport ability with:
Ambulance - 25 points
Supply Vehicle - 20 points
Propaganda Van - 20 points
Special Rules:
Armour Plating: + 1 to front and side armour
Ambulance: All units in 6 inches have Feel No Pain (5+)
?Supply Vehicle: All units with six inches reroll misses (this feels a little broken, would like input on it)?
Propaganda Van: All units within 12 inches have stubborn
Unit name: Empire Class Truck
The design of these sturdy and dependable vehicles is ancient, predating
STCs, however it is very good at what it does and is cheap enough for any force to field in high numbers. Though not as durable as the taurox or well armed as the chimera it gets the job done.
Force Organization Slot: dedicated transport choice for infantry squads, veteran squads, heavy weapon squads, ratling squads and ogryn squads

Transports: 12
Armor: 9/9/9
Hull points: 2
Movement: 12"
May take Armour plating for 10 points
May take pintel mounted storm bolter or heavy stubber for 5 points
May take spotlight for 5 points

The unsung heroes of Imperium logistics units keep the guns firing, get soldiers to the action and provide numerous other roles on the battlefield.
Force Organization Slot: Heavy support
Unit composition: 1 to 6 Empire Class Trucks
points cost: 25 per truck
Transports: 12
Armor: 9/9/9
Hull points: 2
Movement: 12"
Each truck may take:
Armour plating for 10 points
Pintel mounted storm bolter or heavy stubber for 5 points
Spotlight for 5 points
Six mortar Teams for 75 points
or
Targeting Radar for 25 points
or
Artillery Shells 35 points
Special Rules:
Armour Plating: + 1 to front and side armour
Targeting Radar: all hydras within 6 inches of the truck gain skyfire
Artillery Shells: all Astra Militarium Basilisks, Medusas and Colossuses within 6" may reroll the scatter dice
