When fielding Tau w/ Farsight allies, or vice-versa, can units from either detachment benefit from the markerlight counters of the other? Likewise, if you take an Ethereal, can units from either detachment benefit from Invocation of the Elements?

I would be inclined to say yes, but I'm going to say no. Replace every reference to Codex: Tau Empire with Codex: Farsight enclaves when working with Codex: farsight enclaves.

I'd have to say based on the wording from the Farsight Enclave book, that yes they would work. There are a couple of reasons for this;

1. The FE book says first off to use the army list presented in the Tau codex.
2. It calls FE book supplemental rules, not replacement rules.
3. This isn't one that's written, but can be extrapolated based on the rules for FE on page 50. Since we have to use Codex Tau Empire to create our army list, essentially our army is from codex Tau Empire with the "supplemental" rules attached to it. Remember Farsight Enclaves are a set of supplemental rules, it is not a codex.

I would discuss it with your opponent before hand however.

All the models you chose from supplement: Farsight enclaves are from codex: Tau empire. It's hard to play a Farsight enclaves list without any of the models from codex: Tau empire because you wouldn't be putting anything down.
