I'm wondering if anyone can help me with the Hive Tyrant wings. If there's already a link for this could someone direct me there.

I want to change the wings on 1 of my tyrants to give it a different look. I was thinking off having them look more folded our wrapped around the tyrant a bit. I was thinking there might be a way for me to hear up the plastic enough to be able to bend then a bit but I'm hesitant to try it for fear of destroying the wings. The other option is to find another set of wings So if someone could point me in the right direction for those that would help a lot.

The other thing I was wondering is if anyone could give me advice or direct me to where I could find out how to magnetize the wings in such a way as to allow the tyrant to have both sets off weapons and wings.

I've used hot water (hotter than I care to touch) and a hair dryer and got both methods to bend plastic. Go slowly and apply only light pressure. If you apply pressure too strongly then you're not bending it, you're breaking it.

I'd suggest trying hot water first as I feel like it's more fail safe than a hair dryer. Also hair dryers blow small pieces so far away you never find them again. Post pics of the results!

I was researching a while ago on an alternate way to magnetize the wings to do just what you wanted. There's lots of pics of people having the wings in other spots, but I get the feeling it's not a magnet, it's glue.

I was able to magnetize all components of the hive tyrant. I used 1/8" X 1/16" neodymium magnets. That size magnet is just enough for the wings provided the wings are in their original slot. I discovered the wings are also designed to connect to the hive tyrant at the base of the wings. Even with the model supporting some of the weight of the wings, they magnets are just strong enough.

If you're going to magnetize it in an alternate slot you're going to need much stronger magnets than I used, And potentially a way to support the weight of the wings.

You're going to have to drill holes in other spots, and maybe find something you snap on there to cover the spots up when you're not using the wings biomorph.

Use a heat gun, and practice first on some spure or other parts.

I bend plastic this way all the time...but its tricky...it goes from "not bending" to "bending a lot!" quickly.

Also, you can look into getting some harpy wings off ebay, and modifying those for a different look.

Hot water is a good option for large parts like the wings. Heats much more evenly than a hot air gun (although this may or may not be what you want, depending on how you want to bend it).

Use two containers of water - one hot (as mentioned, hotter than you should be touching - dip the model with something else then move it by hand) - and one cold. Get it into the shape you want them dump it in the chilled water to set it quickly.

Sorry for the slight hijack. Has anyone got any ideas what sort of wings I could use for these Tyrants (all metal by the way)?

Spoiler:

I almost wouldn't let you play with the old models, they're so tiny (and hideous!) - but you might want to look at perhaps the FW shrike wings. He's so dinky and little, you'd need much smaller wings than the standard ones to fit nicely.

Of course, you could always grab the standard ones and see how they work - I wouldn't get the Harpy/Crone ones since they attach at two points, but the regular Tyrant wings might work. Should be able to pick them up on eBay easily enough...

I managed to magnetise the wings using 6mm cube magnets (the only ones that I had that I thought would be strong enough).

One of these magnets in the body and one in the wing has enough to hold the wings strongly enough, but they did have a tendency to rotate around the contact.

Solved that with a bit of a hidden anti-rotation pin in the wing - fits right into a hole in the body and keeps things secure.
