What do you think of the canopy conversion idea?
That looks hideous, what are you thinking, don't pursue it!
Looks ok, could use some adjustment (make suggestion please!)
Looks awesome, make up a template for that sucker!

G'day all,

I've never been a huge fan of the Valkyrie's twin canopy design. Also the fit absolutely sucks, it just doesn't fit how it's supposed to, also one of my Valk's has a broken canopy so I need either fix it or make an alternative. I've whipped up something as an alternative, what do you think?

Ok, so this is just a mock-up using plasticard square section, for the actual final design I'll probably measure that framework and cut a template of clear plastic, then greenstuff in the steel supports. It needs to be something I can pump out reasonably quickly as I need to do it to several models.

If you have any suggestions on how it looks and/or good idea for constructing it, let me know!

If people like the design I'll be happy to share the template.

Green stuff will take much longer to get looking decent. You're on the route I would take. In fact I'm doing something very similar for my FW vulture since the resin canopy frame was junk.

Even up the junctions of the strips, and build the cross braces flush. Once the frame is done, paint it. From there use clear sheet on the inside of the frame for the glass. If you use the super thin stuff meant for overhead projector slides, you can single pass cut it with a razor knife or even scissors. Then just stick it in place with a little PVA.

I struggle to make armatures out of plasticard that are perfectly aligned. Made some Goblin chariots and it took me agggges to line everything up and it still wasn't perfect, but since they're goblins it doesn't really matter.

Maybe if I figure out all the measurements and cut the entire left side from a flat sheet of plasticard and the entire right side as well, then just join them at the top with the 2 cross bars (basically the same way GW does the Valk canopy frames).
