It was just something strange that happened, and wondered whether it is working as intended.

I too would like to befriend myself.....

It allows you to put your own threads in the 'my friends threads' page of the 'thread tools' section, so it is by design (it could be prevented but there is no real reason to do so and a tiny benefit to not doing so).

You can undo it by going into your profile, looking for your name in your friends list and selecting {REMOVE}.

No biggy. I put myself on ignore so I don't have to read my own drivel...

That must save you a huge amount of time.

I thought there'd be a reason for it. It must be one of the first things a tester would try, I guess.
