I have solid, fun, fluffy lists at 1250 and 1850, but I'm struggling at 1500.

HQ

This is a fluffy armor saturation list with enough shooting to make it viable. Feels more like iron warriors than world eaters, but it is 6th edition...

At 1250 I drop the vindicator and third troop unit. At 1850 I can run everything. At 1500 I either need to skimp on troops, or skimp on fire support. 1 vindicator is much less of a threat than 2, and 1 squad is much less scoring potential than 2.

Option 3 is to drop one helbrute, but my main opponents are tau and shooty Marines and I need the 48" range.

Thoughts?

why daemonic possession on vehicles you dont get an inv just bs3 and ignore stun/shaken.
if your on foot flyers could be a problem especially other heldrakes, i would consider one.
i love khorne armies i have my own, do tell how it goes

You can make Helbrutes somewhat cheaper dropping lazcannons in favor of ac or plazma cannons. That will save you somewhere around 30 pts iirc.

Possessed upgrade on vindicator is nice but not mandatory - another handy price drop. Also, you may forgo a lightning claw on a zerk champ without much loss either.

I've counted and with this changes your core list will cost ~ 1170 pts

If you drop one helbrute, you'll have exactly enough points for 1 Khornate squad + another vindicator + 10 cultists. And 14 spare points (probably enough to remain with a lazcannon on a helbrute +1 point)

But personally i'd go with regular marines over khornate in a second rhino (without dirge caster) with bolters and 2 plazmas + combi-plazma. Will save 35 pts. Won't be all khornate though if you want to stick to the theme.

Vindicator should have a Combi Weapon, and if you have spare points a Havoc Launcher.
Against Tau and Marines Obliterators or Havocs would perform admirably. I would definitely drop a Helbrute for either of those.
I feel like a Vindicator is overkill against either of those forces unless you are facing a lot of Terminators or Broadsides, or any suit list really.
Predators are Khornate, and would be useful for the extra range.

Still, I'd be interested to know how Berzerkers fare against Marines, I've never run them myself.

I'll try to respond to everything.

Possession turns the av13 vindicator into something akin to a drake - unless it is dead, it is shooting. But it is optional...

TL LC vs Repear AC. My primary opponent is dark eldar and 36" - 6" range won't cut it. The list struggles with av13 at range - things like hammerheads and space marine tanks. My AAA is twin linking...

My main opponents are thunder fire cannons, tau, eldar/dark eldar, wolves, and blood angels.

I've played tested a version of this list with a pair of dakka preds and AC havocs, but I had poor sight lines. It did work okay though.

I like the idea of dropping a helbrute for the vindicator and squad, if the points work out. One gimmick I sometimes run is I buy the berserkers a rhino and run it empty with a dirge caster and destroyer blade. For 60 points you get something that can plow into their lines the turn you charge, give cover saves, and be generally annoying.

I've really struggled to translate my list to 6th edition. I started at the end of 5th with four rhinos (2 zerks 2 MoK meltas). I owned that core, but had to proxy the rest. The list was so much fun, the old rules for furious charge were amazing. I beat green tide and grey knights regularly, with the GK games usually coming down to a handful of models living.

Then 6th dropped and the new codex dropped and it just didn't work anymore. I've tried flying princes, I've tried 10 spawn, I've tried two dakka preds, two maulerfiends. Nothing has worked - I gave T targets to weapons that couldn't hurt tanks, or I screened my own fire support, or I thought melee walkers were a good idea. In all cases I got mowed down.

So now I'm onto Av13/14 and paying the tax for taking it.

It's been a real struggle to maintain a themed army that will evolve with the rules, with something that is competitive. This iron warrior / world eater hybrid is the best thing I've came up with.

The irony is I bought world eaters in 5th because i was tired of my 4th and 5th edition tau getting punched in the face. Now the tau infantry list I like is OP and my chaos are terrible.
