Here's a look at my soon to be painted mega Grotz! Having some aobr terminators lying around and collecting dust prompted me to make these guys. Comments and critisism welcome!

If you could upload the pictures to the Dakka gallery then post them from there, that'd be appreciated.

They look really cool! I've always thought that Mega Nobz converted from Terminators looked way too small, but these guys look just right as far as size and scale goes. Any idea how you're going to paint them?

Thanks! Initially I was just going to put a regular boyz head on the models. But you are totally correct, the sizing looked all wrong. Then I remembered a battle report that I had read where the guy had converted his whole army to grots and even had mega grots.
I haven't decided how I want to paint them. I also play space wolves so I was thinking of painting them to be "stolen" suits from my wolves but I'm not sure. I'm definitely open to suggestions and hope to get them painted within the next week or so

Looking really sweet man! I agree the grot heads look really cool, and to scale.
A suggestion for painting, you should make them look rusted somehow, I don't know how hard that would be, but it would look killer!

Second that. Grotz look best with heavily weathered, rusty equipment.

Does anyone have any good tips on how to paint rust? As far as painting goes I'm pretty new to it

I've been messing around with rust, and my methods are a bit new to me as well, but I got some decent rust the following way:
Paint the item to be rusted a burnt umber base, then use a sponge and dab different browns and a little orange on it. Let that dry overnight, then spray some hairspray in a little cup and paint it on to any spot you want rusted. Let that dry completely. Now paint the final color. Let that dry (Each layer really has to be dry, no rushing it). Then take some warm water and paint it on over the spots that you applied the hair spray to. Eventually what happens is the hair spray gets soaked, and you can use a toothpick or a hard brush to chip the paint away, exposing the brown/rusty bits you put under the main color.
Some hair sprays work better, some worse, they sell something called acrylic chipping fluid that appears to be more consistent than hair spray. (Vallejo has a whole rust kit for like $20 that comes with some too). The advanced version of that method applies salt to the hairspray layer. Luck with that has thus far been less promising. (Largely due to impatience, it was working at first, then I got hulk angry with my brush).
If you look up rust methods on youtube there are dozens of examples of this method. Most use airbrushes, I've been doing some test swords and smaller bits with nothing but brushes and its working pretty good.
Cheers.

Oh man, thats awesome! You've got the riht sense of humor for orks for sure! As far as rust goes i'm just starting to play with weathering powders now so who knows where that'll go. For chipped paint and rust you can sponge on bleached bone, stipple a dark (DARK) brown and work your way up to a rusty color. Make sure to leave at least a tiny ring of the previos color visible.

Alright, thankyou! Hopefully in the next day or so I'll have time to try out these tips. Haha, thanks! I love how comical and slapped together all the ork stuff looks.
Ok, here they are. This is my first try at painting rust (as stated earlier) what do you think?
Sorry, all I've got is my iPhone for taking pictures at the moment

Looking good, it's hard to see, did you end up painting the stolen armor the same as your space wolves?

Ya, sorry about the picture quality. I did end up painting them as if the suits were stolen from my wolves. Here's a hopefully better picture
